Many of us choose significant others based on looks, personality or economic status. However, it would interesting to know how many people pick a mate based on their astrological sign. A person's personality is linked largely to when they were born. Each zodiac sign possesses unique traits of an individual's personality that are surprisingly accurate to a certain degree.

There are twelve zodiac signs, and these signs are grouped into four categories: air, earth, fire and water signs. Aquarius, Gemini and Libra fall under the air sign, and air represents communication and intellect. Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn are earth signs, and earth represents the physical force or stability that holds things together. Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are fire signs, and fire represents energy. Taureans are very passionate and loyal; proving to be reassuring to the smolding Scorpio. Perhaps the only type of people that can tolerate the free-spirited Sagittarian are effective communicators classified under the air signs of Aquarius or Libra.

Some characteristics of the other zodiac signs are bravery and fearlessness represented by Leos and Arians, reliability and practicality represented by Virgos and Capricorns or intuitiveness and empathy which describes Pisceans and Cancerians. Geminians are known for their dual nature which makes them unpredictable, but at the same time they can be kind-hearted and versatile. No matter what sign you may happen to be, knowing which astrological personality traits appeal to you as well as which ones you dislike can have a dramatic effect in choosing the right mate.
