Arizona High Country: Fall Color

Stand of Aspens around a road.

One of the big secrets in Arizona is the fact that there is actually a lot of water--it's just located in a high up corner of the state!

These images were taken last weekend, during our trip to Arizona's White Mountains and lake country. I must say they really do not convey the blue, blue mountain lakes and skies, alpine meadows, and beautiful golden Aspens. For some things, you just have to be there to truly 'see.' To say it is beautiful is an understatement.

Most striking is the pristine state of these wilderness areas. Truly off the grid--many of these lake landscapes are virtually people-free. Others are well-known (but sparsley used) by fisherman, campers, and boaters.

Enjoy!

Ralph- You should! And I should come by to see it, :). I do miss the Midwest, even though there are some gorgeous things here.

maven/Larry- I couldn't believe there were so many lakes in a state known for deserts. I really wouldn't mind owning something up there sometime. :) Thank you.

Liked "Aspen Lined ROad" and "Leaves and Trunks" best. All were very nice. You are ahead of us in VA. I think we have a few more weeks before the leaves all turn. I loved the aspens when I used to live in Denver.

Hi, Egg. :) The high country is ahead. It's fall in spurts all over AZ. It'll be a few more weeks in the riparian areas where I live. And the desert just gets dry. Thank you for the comment...I love aspens, too!
