Relax with Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy involves using the scent or aroma of various plants to help relax and soothe the mind and the body.   It’s also very effective in calming a stressed body and mind.  Using essential oils in an aromatherapy bath is a natural way of unblocking congested pores, helps reduce stress and relaxes tired and aching muscles.  Aromatherapy has also become very popular among the famous and the beauty conscious people of the world.

Aromatherapy and aromatherapy baths have also proven to be effective in giving relief from depression and anxiety by reducing stress.  Aromatherapy baths contribute to a more relaxed state and helps restore a sense of well being.  Modern medicine may also help with these issues, but too often have unwanted side effects.  Other on-going research is aimed at how aromatherapy baths may help with the treatment or healing of burns from radiation treatment.  It may also help calm pre-treatment anxiety.

Preparing for an aromatherapy bath is easy.  Simply add about 10 drops of your favorite essential oil into a bathtub of warm water and you’re ready to relax!   Since different scents or fragrances have different healing properties, you should familiarize yourself with the various plants.  You can also mix different essential oils to create the therapy you desire.  Start with one scent and start mixing to get the desired effect.  Blend the oils together and store in a colored glass bottle.   If you plan on using the bath oils with children, please be sure that the oils you have chosen are safe for children and always use a smaller amount in the bathwater.   Bath oils containing Vitamin E when added to your favorite aromatic oil will help the essential oil to remain on the surface of the water.   To create a bubble bath, simply add a good quality hand soap and fresh rose petals.

Mineral Baths from the Dead Sea are also known to have similar relaxing and soothing effects as aromatherapy baths.  Doctors have recommended for years bathing in the Dead Sea to help treat skin conditions as well as easing sore muscles and joint stiffness.  Pour some of these salts into your bathwater too.

Aromatherapy bath treatments will be more effective if you use them at least once a week.  By making a habit of using the aromatherapy bath you will quickly experience the effects of deep relaxation and a natural stress release.   Schedule time for yourself with a relaxing and beneficial aromatherapy bath.
