Arrested Development was a hilarious show that met an all too early death. Spanning three short seasons, the story centers on the Bluth family and their crumbling business and legal trouble which brings the whole family together under one model home's roof. We saw some of the best written comedy to ever grace the television screen, but sadly due to low ratings, a time slow that kept shifting, and a network who hastily pulled the plug, we are left with memories of the dysfunctional only on DVD.

For now.

At the conclusion of the last episode of the series, our narrator Ron Howard mentions the show just wouldn't work on TV...but maybe a movie. This line teased Arrested Development fans for years as many prayed that this line was hinting at an actual movie that would later come out. This was obviously not the case, but perk up Arrested fans, your beloved show will be coming to the big screen afterall.

As of November 8th, 2009, The script/screenplay is being written and the main characters are (rumored) to be all on board. No one is really quite certain when filming will begin, or what we should anticipate, but one thing is pretty clear: The Bluth family will be making a return sometime in the next couple years. A rough target date has been set at 2011, but we all know how planned movie dates work and fluctuate.

Hopefully the movie will live up to the incredibly high bar the show set, and hopefully the full cast can be reunited as the extremely memorable characters they played.

So get excited Arrested Development fans - your big moment is coming sometime in the near future. Plenty of time to watch your AD DVDs for the umpteenth time and to decide which character to dress up as for the midnight showing. One thing is certain: we need to show Fox what a bad decision it was to let this show go.

It looks like Keith Olbermann got his wish. In this video from 2007, Olbermann reports on the possibility of an Arrested Development movie, and plugs his own opinion (and plea) into the segment.

I can't believe they took that show off the air. Hopefully the movie is good.
