Arsenic in chicken feed poisons workers
The reasoning behind using arsenic in chicken feed is to keep the chickens healthy by eliminating certain microbes and intestinal infestatons in chickens guts.
Some arsenic does get into the flesh of the chicken as well as their eggs and into the chicken manure and ends up in the soil and water as a result.I take it these are not Organically grown or free range chickens.
Why is it we can't come up with a more responsable way to take care of the same problem of infestation of unwanted micros and intestional infestation of these chickens. What do the organic chicken farmers do to get rid of infections in their chickens?
When I eat chicken I make sure I don't eat any very dark portions near the bone as I have learned that toxins end up in the fatty portions of the flesh .The same goes for the fatty portions of fish like salmon. You will notice very dark colored flesh along the sides of salmon. You should disguard this dark flesh before eating it.I never eat farmed salmon in any case.

Dave Thank you for the correction about the difference between broilers and laying hens.Your comment about organic or free range chickens may be true, but I would think that at least some of the free range chickens out there were not eating toxic chemicals from the ground they cover.

Arsenic is not fed to laying hens, only broilers. Broilers do not reach maturity to begin egg production, therefore the comment about arsenic in the eggs is false. People believe organic is better free range chickens have elevated levels of many heavy metals that are picked up from the ground they are raised on.
