Art classes Newcastle is a way for you to learn a new skill. Drawing is a facinating hobby that you can take anywhere and you only need some paper and a simple pencil. Taught by Vivienne Nelson who has been teaching for 40 years she is expertly able to get up up and drawing with skill and purpose in no time.

Vivienne uses the approach by Betty Edwards , who teaches drawing from the right side of the brain. Her book - Drawing on the right side of the brain is a New York Times best seller list with more than 2.5 million copies sold and as been used for years teaching thousands of students wanting to learn the art of drawing.

What is special about this technique is that it shows you the proper way to draw, it is useful in being able to bring out your inner artist.

The way it does this is by showing you how to really draw by going through a number of exersies which shows you that you need to draw directly whats in front of you and not a pre conceived idea of the object in your head.

Drawing on the right side of the brain is a lot different from the approach we normally use by using our left side of the brain, it's a habit that we easily fall into as we normally use our left side of the brian in everyday life. We have been taught from our first days of school that we are most rewarded by using our left side of our brains.

The left side of the brain deals mainly with processes, this includes writing and workign with numbers, we were rewarded in school when we excelled at Maths or English, art and drawing does not fill much of the time spent at school so we were not taught and rewarded for using our right side of our brains.

Drawing is especially great as when we start to draw properlly - by looking at the object and drawing exactly what we see then we are using all of our right brain.

Using the right side of our brains is not only good for drawing it will benefit us in the rest of our lives. It's a natural way of how we use our brains and should be encouraged as much as possible. It deals with space and proportion, intuition, it looks at the bigger picture and leaves the details out of it - the left side of the brain does the opposite.

If you have been meaning to get into a Hobby then starting to draw may be the best thing to get into, it not only exercises the right side of the brain that often gets forgotton in this day and age it is a hobby you can do anywhere and at any time, even a five minute sketch is useful for getting the brain to switch sides.

Drawing is a great way to record reality and has a more human sensability then simply takign a photograph. You the artiest can choose to emphasis or de-emphasis a particular element within a composition.

The best part about Vivienne's art lessons in Newcastle are that you don't need any previous art lessons, you don't require any art or drawing knowledge, it is for absolute beginners or even children.
