Artificial Plants - A Brown Thumb's Ticket to a Greener World
71House plants and trees are an amazing addition to any home decor, but if you do not have a green thumb then the maintenance of house plants can be a big problem. Lucky for you (and me) there is such a thing as artificial plants for your home. Artificial plants are used for both home and commercial decorations. Today, artificial plants look and even feel very real and for that reason they can give a sense of peace and serenity to any room. Brown thumbs everywhere are switching from real to artificial plants and trees for obvious reasons. Many green thumbs are often deceived by an artificial plant because of their resemblances to real plants. I know I am already sold on the idea of fake plants and trees, but if you are still undecided, take a quick trip to your local home furnishing place and take a look at their artificial plants and see for yourself how realistic and beautiful they can be.
Real Plants vs. Artificial Plants
If your choice is to have real plants for your house plants then that is awesome and I hope you are kinder to your plants than I have been to mine, but you are also limited in your choice of house plants. The choices you have are what is available on the market or in your area, and what plants make great indoor plants. Being a green thumb, you know that certain plants and trees do not grown indoors or in certain climates. If you choose artificial plants then you are not limited to the types of plants you can have in your house!
Knowing your Artificial Plants
It is important to know which direction your decor is taking before you purchase your artificial plants. There are so many to choose from that you will not have a problem finding any to match your decor. Artificial indoor plants can be made to match any style just by the pots you put them in and the way you arrange them in your home, but there are some plants that just go perfectly with certain themes. For instance, if your style is a Mediterranean one, then a large frond artificial palm tree would go perfectly! Let's say your decor calls for something from a Southwest themes, well then an artificial cactus would be a great addition to your home.
Today one can even find designer artificial plants and trees. Artificial silk flowers are another option and can be found in bold colors that can rearranged just like fresh flowers. Just do me a favor, do not plant these artificial flowers in your outdoor garden as my step-mother was famous for. Trust me, this only looks tacky! Artificial plants, flowers and trees are great for brown thumbs because they do not need trimming, dead heading or watering. They require no soil and their leaves do not wilt, brown, or fall off making a mess that needs cleaning up. Many artificial indoor plants are made with UV protective coating for the leaves so there is no fading and they remain lush and green forever! The only drawback that artificial plants have is they do need to be dusted regularly, but so do real plants so you are still way ahead.
