A make up artist should also be considered as someone who is a “work of art,” because art covers a wide scope of categories; some of which are learning how to plant a vegetable garden, how to learn to play a piano, painting a portrait, writing a book, making a video, film making, writing a song or being a graphic designer.

Anything that requires creativity, passion, intuitiveness, and working with the hands are all art. Some people get confined to viewing painting as art. Creativity is the one attribute that defines an artist.

This is why you can say a beautician or make-up artist falls into that category because they need a creative mind to bring out their best work.

A face is like a painter’s canvas and a head is like the crown of a sculpture. The hands are what make the difference. The molding of the hands on that face to bring it to life and the care a beautician takes in sculpting the hair on the head is much to be admired.

A writer also uses the hands to put words on paper or on a computer screen. It takes mental aptitude to be able to do this, but it is an art because not everyone has the passion for this.

There is something that comes deep from within that every artists strives to bring to the forefront. One thing is sure and that is art can be learned. Some people are born with it, but there are others who have to learn their art.

A beautician for example has to go through training no matter how talented he or she is. Talent alone will not get you very far in this world of licensing and law suits. A make-up artist has to have these requirements as well. A writer may get by without having a license initially, but when that book comes out, there are ISBN numbers and registration fees.

A graphic designer has the task of creating a product from scratch with only minor specifications. It takes diligence and a deep passion as well as pride in what the end product will be for that special person to give high performance.

If you are a gardener or landscaper, you are performing art on your own canvas even if it is dirt. You are the one that can turn a wilderness into a paradise. It is pure art.

The painter is inspired by something while sleeping and wakes up and put the exact image or vision on the canvas and so does the song writer, who can develop a melody in a whisper of thought.

As long as you are breathing, you are an artist. The job you do may be your art because you are the only one who is trained to do it. Take pride in what you do and if you don’t think that you are an artist, then you are mistaken unless you are not contributing anything to the universe you live in.
