As Seen On TV - Does That Stuff Really Work

I know you have seen it…especially if you stay up until the wee hours of the morning…the “As Seen on TV” infomercial.  They have these commercials for everything under the sun.  My kids are actually addicted to them.

I know it sounds warped, but they even downloaded the Slap Chop rap (it really exists – you can find it on YouTube).  I have to admit that as much as I despise these desperate marketing programs, I actually find some of them entertaining.  Someone has invested the time and energy into coming up with these ideas and pushing them through to production.

Some of these items even work.  Personally, I bought a Total Gym because of an infomercial that I saw.  I have been very happy with it.   My wife also purchased a Denise Austin workout DVD, and she really liked it.  It seems that the wild claims that they used to make regarding the products Ron Popeil used to push have come a long way.  The As Seen on TV exercise equipment they are selling on TV these days is actually useful.  I haven’t invested in the space bags yet, but they look like they would be ideal for use when storing comforters, and seasonal clothing.

I also think I need to get one of those Awesome Augers that they sell.  I am not sure how it would work out here in the desert clay, but it is certainly worth a try.  One of the other things that has kind of won me over to these products is that you can find them just about anywhere these days.  They have had a whole string of “As Seen on TV” stores pop up across the country that sell all manner of “As Seen on TV” items and products.  I have actually been into one of the stores, and you can – in fact – get just about anything they sell on TV in these stores.

I think the key to being satisfied with the products you may order off of the TV is to realize that you really do get what you pay for.  Odds are, if you spend $19.95 on something, it is not going to last super long.  So as you begin to look at purchasing some of the wares they are peddling, just remember it will probably not last forever, but when it breaks you can just order another one.

Have you ever used any?

If you have had any experiences with exercise equipment or other items that you have purchased off of the TV, why don't you leave a comment and tell us how it worked out for you.
