If you're not familiar with tennis player Ashley Harkleroad, just wait 'til August.The 23-year-old tennis player announced that she will appear in the August issue of Playboy. Ashley will be the first tennis player to grace the pages of Playboy.
Ashley was born on May 2, 1985 in Rossville, Georgia. She is 23 years old. She started playing tennis at the age of 4, when her father started taking her to the tennis courts.
Her 2004 season was a bit slow and, in '05 she took a break from tennis due to injuries. However, in '05 she returned with a vengeance, competing and almost beating Maria Sharapova (who was No. 4 at the time). She had a top 100 finish in Singles in 2006 and a top 60 finish in Doubles.
2008 was a great year for Ashley Harkelroad, not because she played tennis exceptionally well (she lost in the first round of the French Open to Serena Williams) but because she officially announced she'd be posing in Playboy magazine.Asked about her decision to appear in Playboy, Ashley Harkleroad replied, "I thought about it, and it was something that I did. I'm proud of my body. I was representing a female athlete's body."
