Asin  Thottumkal is an Indian film actress .Asin was born in kochi belongs to Kerala district on October 26 1985 . She was into a Catholic family . Her father Joseph Thottumkal who belongs to Thodupuzha . Thodupuzha is a town in Ldukki district in the Indian state of Kerala . He was a big business man . But he stopped his business and decided to look after his daughter’s acting career.Asin father accompanies her to all her foreign shootings. Asin mother Seline Thottumkal was a surgeon . She moved with her daughter’s settlements from Cochin to Chennai and to Mumbai to live with her daughter . even though she remains a surgeon . The meaning of  word Asin is Pure and without any  sin . The letter  ‘A’ in her name is from Sanskrit meaning “without” and ‘Sin’ from English .

Asin Thottumkal started her acting career at the age of 15 in the year 2001 . In the film  Narendran Makan Yayakanthan Vaka which was Malayalam film  directed by Sathyan Anthikkad she acted has a supporting role like hero’s cousin. After this movie she take break for the film industry because to pursue her  education .After 2 years Asin returned back to film industry with a breakthrough film as an Actress in the movie Amma Nanna O Tamil Ammayi opposite to Raviteja as a Tamil girl in her first Telugu language film in the year 2003. And she got the first Telugu Filmfare Award for Best Actress .

Asins first Tamil film was “M.Kumaran son of Mahalakshmi” directed by M.Raja . She acted with Tamil hero Jayam Ravi . This movie was remake of Telugu movie “Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi” .Asin acted as a actress even in this movie also . In this movie she acted as Malayali girl instead of Tamil girl in the original movie .This movie reached very high and become one of the biggest hit in Tamil cinema during 2004 when Asin was introduced to Tamil film industry.The Movie “Ullam Ketkumae” directed by Jeeva realesed in the year 2002 . Jeeva the director of this movie gave the chance to Asin as a lead actress. In this movie she acts along with famous hero Arya and famous Heroine Pooja Umashankar . This movie was related to the love story . After completing the direction of this movie it takes long time to relese .But this movie became a successful movie at the box-office . From this movie, Asin got many opportunities . After the release of “Ullam Ketkumae” movie Asin became a very big leading heroine .She became a prominent actors of the Tamil industry in the movies Ghajini , Majaa , Sivakasi and Varalaru respectively.”Ghajini” was the breakthrough film for Asin. Ghajani movie was directed by A.R.Murugadoss . In this movie she acts with Surya and Nayanatara In this movie her character was lovable chatterbox. Her character name is Kalpana . For this movie she received the Tamil Filmfare Award for Best Actress . In the year 2005 Asin had two releases “Sivakasi” and “Majaa”.The movie Sivakasi was directed by Perarasu . In this movie Asin acted very poorly but even though this movie went on to be a syccessful venture at the box office . The movie Majaa was directed by Malayalam director Shaffi This movie became an average movie . In the year 2006 the movie “Varalaru “ Asin acted with Ajith Kumar became the biggest blockbuster movie. In Jan 2007 Asin appeared opposite Ajith Kumar and Vijay in two different films “Aalwar” and “Pokkini” . The movie Aalwar became the failure and movie Pokkini becoming success. Her final movie of the year was “Vel” directed by Hari .This movie was released in the year 2007 on Diwali.Subsequently this movie becames her third successful film which was released

After Asin Tamil film industry she returned back to Telugu films In the  year 2003 she also won the Santosham Best Actress Award for her performance with Nagarjuna in her second telugu film “Shivamani” . In the year 2004 she acts in two movies in telugu with great actors Bala Krishna and Venkatesh . The movie “Lakshmi Narasimha” with Bala Krishna and the movie “Gharshana” with Venkatesh . But in both the movies heros are Police Officers .She showed her love to the police officers .Even the movie Sivamani also related to the police officer . These two successful films raised her placed as a leading actress in the Telugu film industry.

She acted in the movie “Chakram” .In this movie she perform very great role .Asin appeared in the movie Annavaram directed by Bemineni Srinivasa Rao . also .In the year 2008 Asin appeared her first dual role in the movie “Dasavathaaram” directed by K.S.Ravi Kumar.She acts along with the famous and great actor Kamal Haasan who acted in ten roles . But actually this movie ought to be released in the year 2006 but it remained in production till 2008. This movie became Asin’s best movie in her acting career . The first role has Vaishnavite girl in the 12^th century and the second character was a Brahmin girl from Chidambaram . This movie went on to become one of the Biggest blockbusters in South Indian film history.

Being establishing herself as the leading actress in south India she move into Bollywood to get fame even in hindi movies also .Her first film Ghajini opposite Aamir Khan which was remake movie from Tamil and Telugu. She continued with the same name Kalpana. In the year 2009 she acted in the movie London Dreams directed and produced by Vipul Shah’s . She acted along with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan . She is one of the member in the band which contains five members.

She recently juged the Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2009 and Fashion Big Bazaar’s India Ka Fashion Star 2009 events . And she also apperead in some of the Tv shows
