Canadian Government Assist in Career Change?

Canadian government offers many resources for different types of people that need help in changing or finding a job in Canada. Service Canada is a wonderful resource that is available online and can be used to help determine if there is a program available that is right for you. Although the information is brief, knowing that certain programs exist can make a difference when you start your career search.  Trying to navigate the tricky career transition waters can be difficult and you might want to take advantage of the expertise that a career advancement agency like RDG Careers has in this area.

Each individual is different and has different needs as diverse as the careers that they seek. If you are a disabled worker or a retired job seeker you might need information on the Canadian Pension Plan and Old Age Security Program - specifically Bill C-36, which was passed in May of 2007 and contained important changes that may effect this classification of worker. Retired workers will need to know what limitations they might face if they decide to return to the workforce, including the impact on their current earnings. Additionally disabled job seekers that are recipients of the Canada Pension Plan Disability Benefits can take advantage of the Vocational Rehabilitation Program which offers vocational training, financial considerations and counseling for qualified applicants. The program is designed to help disabled workers find careers and training that are possible despite the applicant’s physical limitations.

Youths and students can take advantage of programs designed to get them ready for the workforce like the Accent program, which provides part time work for language assistants. Odyssey is a similar program that provides full time positions for language assistants in urban areas. There is also the Federal Student Work Experience program which is a database of available students that are looking for temporary job opportunities in federal job markets. Students can increase the chances of being chosen for key federal jobs by working in conjunction with career agencies like RDG Careers. Proper presentation of skills that are relevant and desirable can make the difference between a non-descript resume and one that is targeted to a specific career choice in line with the educational pursuit of the student. There are several different internship programs and summer work programs that might be perfect for the student that is still in process of formulating what their career direction is going to be.

Even if you are a new comer to Canada, you will need assistance in obtaining a work permit. Students from foreign countries will be interested in the Post Graduate Work Permit Programs that will give practical experience that coincides with the educational experience the foreign student received while in Canada. By working with a firm like RDG Careers other practical concerns like legal paperwork and visas can be discussed and filing deadlines can be met. The transition from foreign student to worker can be smooth. RDG Careers can help this sector of career applicants look for multinational companies that have sectors with career openings in other cities that need bilingual career professionals.
