Over 30 scholarships are awarded annually from the Association for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST.)
The foundation was developed to help promote the growth of students entering into fields relating to science, metallurgy and engineering. Most scholarships are designed for students pursuing a degree in one of these fields.
If you are interested in applying for a scholarship offered by the AIST, you will find a wide variety of opportunities available to you.
Each scholarship has specific requirements to apply, so check the website for complete details about the scholarship you are interested in.
Eleven scholarships will be awarded by the AIST Foundation, and FeMET and STEEL each will offer 10 scholarships. There will also be several member chapter scholarship awards sponsored by AIST as well for the 2008-2009 school year.
The scholarships offered by the foundation have general eligibility requirements students must adhere to before applying. These guidelines are applicable for the AIST Foundation scholarships only. If you are interested in another type of scholarship, please view their guidelines for specific information.
First of all, students must be enrolled full-time in an accredited engineering, metallurgy or materials science program. Applicants should also have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be interested in pursuing a career in the iron and steel industry.
To apply for a foundation scholarship, applicants must submit a completed application form, including a current resume detailing work experience and extracurricular activities.
You must also include a maximum 2-page essay about your professional goals and how you plan to use your skills to enhance the steel industry. Please also include 3 letters of recommendation as well as a current transcript.
