Astral Musing: The Guardian Of Fear

The Guardian Of Fear
Cold fingers climb your spine yet from your mouth no speech.
Your heart explodes with rapid beat but help seems out of reach.
Don't deny that this is you, for I've seen it all before -
Chewing nails to the quick, back against the door.
One thing that you must understand, for your reckoning is near;
Throughout your life you must endure your own fair share of fear.
My job is not to complicate, though in some circles I am hated.
I've seen men being torn apart till their shaman was sated.
At the dawn of time my kind were here, working for one purpose.
You might call us accountants but it's a job we can't discuss
Your ancient world was a trial run, there were kinks to iron out.
A blinking eye and an age flew by, as the great gods watched with doubt.
We were there at Noah's flood and turned Lot's town insane.
At Caracol, hearts held aloft, as the donor died in pain.
Playing tricks with native minds while Romans conquered land,
I watched in silent triumph then and even played a hand.
Genghis Khan hired my kind to sweep across the land,
To enter dreams and bring forth screams to give him upper hand.
China's first great ruler and his dream to tame a land;
Ramses' use of poison darts and Custer's last command.
The slaughter and the torture and wailing screams of pain
Can take its toll on even us - some have turned quite insane.
My view began to slowly change, its time I know not when.
I grew concerned at lives we'd changed and boys who'd not be men.
As Alexander's trusted aide, I held dark forces back.
And walked with Caesar down darkened halls, poised for an attack.
The Oracle at Delphi I consider my true friend.
I try to help out with her work to see each person's end.
Robert Bruce in a darkened cave with a spider spinning web;
I squeezed his shoulder on its last swing, and saw his dark doubt ebb.
Saving Templars was a tricky job - I watched that pope's last breath,
And shed some tears at ravaged Troy and raged at Joan's slow death.
There's two I need to tell you of, to indicate my view -
First Hitler and then Stalin, to show what I now do.
I haunted Hitler's twisted mind - his objections were inane.
I jumped inside, destroyed his pride and unleashed all my pain.
Stalin's death was lingering, if you do remember.
The pain I caused him was a taste of hell; his life's a now-cold ember.
My icy grip is always close but please regard me as a friend.
I'm only there so we can share life's fears so you'll transcend.
Personal Note: When I wrote this poem, I had been experiencing a great deal of fear in my life. In order to come to terms with it, I made an attempt to personify it as an actual entity. It was written entirely for my own peace of mind but hopefully, you've enjoyed the result.
Creativity Quick Tip
Request a Special Guide
Any medium will tell you that they know, without question, they have a number of spirit helpers or guides that assist them with all aspects of their life. Many of the ancients regarded this as fact, even giving them names and specific abilities. Leonardo da Vinci was a firm believer in his own "muses" - mystical entities that would assist in his creative endeavors - and the results of his work remain unequaled to this day.
While this concept is becoming more accepted by the spiritual community at large, many do not know that there are a special classification of guides known as "Outer Band Guides" who are available upon request to help with temporary difficulties or problems. These can be considered the specialists, with expert knowledge on a given subject, topic or method. The tool that I want to highlight here involves a simple request for their assistance. This is not book knowledge but based on my own personal experience of working with them and they are very real.
A quick example - I work as building superintendent, almost exclusively evenings and on-call. During the course of one week, I had two complaints made about me, which were very false allegations. One involved my volunteer position with the VON, while the other was a claim I had disclosed confidential information to a supposed "drug dealer". In the latter case, the individual had approached me, quite intoxicated and proceeded to curse and swear, informing me he would be going "right to the top". Disclosure of this type of information is a clear violation of my contract and is something that I pay very close attention to. Even though these two incidents were untrue, I still had to "walk the mat" and respond to the two bosses involved. Needless to say, I was more than just nervous and it was coincidental that these two interviews were on the same day, about an hour apart. Not entirely certain of what to expect, I had requested a temporary guide to assist me in calming the situation. Both "talks" lasted less than two minutes, contained absolutely no malice or "finger pointing" and I could clearly feel a noticeable calm during each. Since then, I've requested the same guide (named Bob) with similar results. A hysterical woman in tears took about three minutes to stop crying and even laughed at a silly joke I made. Any time I know that a tense situation - or even when I'm not certain - is imminent, I request this same guide and the results have been quite dramatic.
You're likely saying that this is reasonably entertaining but what relevance does this have, for us, as writers? One other temporary guide that I enjoy working with is named Laura and she is exceptionally helpful when I need to explain, in writing, anything involving feelings or emotions. She is able to make sense out of the message I'm trying to convey in a way that I've never been able to do. With a simple request, I can feel the difference she makes but a key component is allowing her energy and creativity to flow through me and this aspect is nowhere near as difficult as you might imagine.
Simple Method: Your options here are unlimited in many respects. Let's suppose you're stuck on some detail of the plot, as an example. You can choose to request a special guide to assist with generating ideas, even a few hours before you actually sit down to write - or you can sit down at your computer and then make the request. In both cases, the method is the same.
Begin by taking a few calming breaths to center and ground yourself. Once you feel relaxed, address the Universe/God/Goddess/Creator - what ever you feel comfortable with - and explain your overall situation. You can be as detailed or as simplistic as you choose. The next step is simply saying, "I respectfully request that you assign a temporary guide to assist me with (state your specific need - help with dialogue, character development or perhaps a new way of explaining an idea or concept etc.). I am grateful for this opportunity and grateful to you (name the deity) for listening and granting this request."
Remain quiet for at least three complete breathing cycles with your mind clear and then begin. Pay close attention to any sudden or subtle insights. Remember, with your fist attempt at working with this new guide, you may have difficulty determining whether the insights are a product of your own mind or are thoughts that are lovingly interjected into your consciousness by this entity. Following your intuition is essential as well. You may get a sudden urge, for example, to pick up a particular book or jump online to get a bit more information about a particular aspect of what you're writing about. An idea that hadn't crossed your mind in years may suddenly become prominent and you'll ask yourself why you hadn't thought of it sooner. (This has happened to me on a number of occasions and it has always been instrumental in relieving my writer's block.)
Don't dismiss your request if you don't get a sudden energy pulse or noticeable sign they are at work, although if you are a "sensitive" this can occur. It's important, as well, to know that you have every right to do this and that the Universe - and especially these types of guides - relish the chance to help out. You can choose to believe this or not and that is entirely your affair. Personally, I want to utilize any resource that empowers and assists me in achieving my goals as a writer.
When you've completed the writing session (you'll feel it) take a moment and address the guide. Let them know that you are grateful for their help and ask for their name, if you want. It may come directly into your mind or - as happens to me - the name starts to roll on my tongue, like when you try to pronounce a difficult word. You have the option of releasing them or asking for their continued help at a future time. Personally, if it has been beneficial collaboration and know that I will encounter a similar problem or difficulty in the future, I always express my sincere gratitude and inform them that I will be needing them again at some point. Gratitude is an essential element in working with any of your guides, but especially these very special temporary guides.
In regards to asking for a guide to assist in generating ideas, a day or a few hours before you begin, it is imperative that you pay close attention to your intuition. Any sudden urges that you find you normally wouldn't consider (within reason, of course) need to be explored. Sometimes that can be as simple as eating lunch in a different restaurant, turning on the TV at a specific time, picking up a book you haven't read in years or even a completely new one. The key to making full use of their help is to follow the gentle guidance they are supplying. There are absolutely no limits to the type of situations that you can apply this tool to; take that first small baby step and see what happens. You may be very pleasantly surprised.
Final Note: This may sound outrageous to some and even fanciful imagining on my part but consider this: After two thousand years, the Vatican has finally conceded that the existence of UFO's and extra-terrestrials is not only probable but also very likely
