So you want to start an at home internet business? Many people do but they fail to understand what it takes to succeed and how to get started on the right foot.

1.       Develop a clear at home internet business plan. It is not good enough to simply say, I want to make money from home on the internet. You must know and have written down exactly how you will do it. What products or services will you offer? What website or websites will you need? What tools do you need? Who will be your target market? All of these questions must be answered first before you can make money with an at home internet business.

2.       Find some products or services that you will market online.  You can either create your own, partner with a direct sales, or network marketing company, or become an affiliate for companies and individuals who offer affiliate programs.  You want to also be sure that the products you choose will sell well online. Certain things do better than others and your success with your at home internet business depends upon the selection of the right kinds of products.

3.       Create your website. Make sure that you make the design appealing, that you include some kind of video, about us information, contact us information and other information to make it appealing and to offer your visitors value and to let them know who you are and not just who is your business.  You should also offer some kind of a newsletter, free report or ecourse via email opt-in on your website to capture leads and to continue to market to people.

4.       Get everything you will need in place to take orders and process them. For most businesses, this will mean that you will need credit card processing, a book keeping system and a receipt system. If you are only going to market as an affiliate however, you will probably not need credit card processing and the receipt system may be optional as well.

5.       Get some business cards and catalogs or brochures. Even though you are online it is still wise to have them available for both online contacts and off-line contacts. Depending upon the kind of at home internet business you have chosen, you may also want to market your business off-line in the beginning as well.
