I have been coaching professional and college athletes since college and enjoying every moment of it.  A point came in my career where I chose to coach high school student/ athletes as I believe a greater impact can be made by coaching at that level.

When coaching the student/ athletes, I realize more and more that the appreciation and experience of the game in which they play is unrealized.  Kids today do not know of names such as Babe Ruth or Willie Mays.  Some are unfamiliar even with today's athletes such as Derek Jeter.  Most of the kids have very little league experience yet are able to teach me lessons in XBox or Playstation games.

As a parent, I must call all other parents to attention and ask them to spend more time with their kids.  Turn off the television or video games and go outside and have a catch.  Talk to your kids about athletes and games past.  You will notice a closer and more meaningful relationship with your child as well as a much more well rounded child who will have more tools to succeed in life.
