damn if you do.

  1. well i am still a little groggy from the hydrocodone the doctors have me on but let me play the devils advocate here. drilling at home may or may not lower the cost for the foreseeable future. The oil companies would have to build new refinery's and because of the lack of any new means of refining the process would be slow. Now there is a huge untapped oil field in the wilds of Alaska that so far no one wants to touch for fear of disturbing the wild life preserve. How ever with modern technology most oil company's can drill 17 or 18 miles away and never even disturb a single feather of what ever flightless bird calls that frozen wilderness home. It is going to take the better portion of ten years to begin, drilling, refining and delivery to the market. so the sooner begun the sooner finished. I believe the drilling here in the united states would be just a banded on a huge wound. We would still need to develop alternative clean fuels. like an alcoholic the weaning of America off of oil will be long, costly, painful and full of pit falls. may be we need to start a twelve step program where we all stand up and say "hello i am frank. I am a gasaholic?" there are no easy steps to being fuel efficient but we need to keep our eye on the ball so we can have a clean energy future for our kids! 2.Nuclear energy presents other problems such as the fact no one has built a new one in well over 25 years. The safety and security for these Nuclear plants and the surrounding communities would have to be vastly improved. The cheap and clean electricity would only be worth it if security and safety was able to keep another Chernobyl or three mile island from happening. Again we have not had any one build a new plant in ages and like the drilling up north the sooner began the sooner ended. Then there is the issue of the safe disposal of spent uranium rods. If more plants are built yes we will have more nuclear plants and more electricity and more spent rods to be disposed of. Now you know if some one was to come down and ask if they could drop their spent, radioactive, glow in the dark rods in the local garbage pit most of us would naturally say "no,no,no not here buddy!" so even if we build those nuclear plants it will take time to build them and then what do we do with the waste? After all the goal is a clean, greener world. I think even nuclear energy is way more desirable than the eventually collapse of our environment. I think research and development should press ahead in improving solar and wind technology. The new improvements in lithium batteries will go a long way toward making electric cars more efficient and cheap. The goal should be drilling with a minimal damage to the environment and then nuclear plant construction but force our government to mandate a policy of greener and cleaner energy with the goal of making America truly independent of foreign influence. Any one who believes that Saudi Arabia and Kuwait and Dubai are our friends is a very sadly disillusioned fool. Make America more fuel efficient our kids will thank you!

nuclear or drlling?

haha...how's that hydrocodone doing? Thanks for answering my Request. You might want to break up some of your writing into different capsules with headers, etc. - it would make it much easier to read. Just a thought...keep up the great Hubbing!
