Applying for a Business Sponsorship

A great Youth event is occurring across the sea and over the mountain. It promises to have lots of people in a exotic city. Sally O. is interested in attending this event. How can this be done?

The best start is that Sally O. begin by asking for somebody to sponsor the trip for her. She will need to take a look around and start asking her family, friends and check around her community. Find out if there is a organization or find a similar or complimentary business that would also be interested in supporting this upcoming event.

Once Sally O. has identified possible prospects she will need to contact them preferably a person with a name so she will then research for that person’s name. In this case, Sally O. has found that a Ms. Blooma of ABC Silly Company and Mr. Pehr of Fix-Chairs Company are possible contacts.

Sally O. talks with her own family for reassurance and is feeling guilty about the idea of somebody paying for a full- round trip and needs some further direction. Mr. And Mrs. O. comfort their daughter and suggest she do some fund raising for her own monies and she can help offset the full cost of this trip. Sally O. is thrilled and sets out on this task, as follows ;

Event, notes the date and marks it on the calendar.

Calculate Costs, notes the estimated costs of hotel, flight, travel, food, cab and miscellaneous for unexpected costs plus shopping.

Decision, Sally will raise monies for her food, miscellaneous, cab fare and shopping.

Letters, Sally sends letter of introduction to Ms. Blooma and Mr. Pehr and asks if they would be interested in sponsoring her to attend this great Youth event. Sally asks if Ms. Blooma will pay the hotel and another separate letter asks Mr. Pehr if he will pay the flight costs.

Bio, Sally O. includes basic personal information and reasons why she would like to attend, her own personal involvement in Youth events at home and state and offers to hand out their business information via business cards, brochures or mentions in interview and provide a personal report if they choose and leaves her telephone number and return address. Sally O. mails her letters.

Fund Raiser, Sally organizes and hosts fund raising activities and raises enough monies for food, miscellaneous, cab fare and shopping.

Reply, a telephone call from Ms. Blooma agreeing to pay for the hotel is confirmed and a cheque to be picked up at a specified date. Mr. Pehr calls later to reply he is unable to pay for the flight. Sally O. accepts these responses graciously and with a sense of disappointment. Mr. and Mrs. O. smile at their daughter and offer to pay for the flight themselves. Sally O. is ecstatic as she can now attend this great event.

Not all sponsorships will be a success and this information only offers the basic steps involved but can be achieved. We just have to look at Nascar and the Olympics as an example of sponsorships. It does get done and is a great experience.
