If you are unclear on what attraction marketing is or why it is so important for your home business, check out my article: 'Attraction Marketing: What It Is And Why You Need It For A Legitimate Internet Business'.

What I didn't cover in that article is what tools you need to truly leverage attraction marketing in your business.

Attraction marketing can be used in just about any business in some form, but for the purposes of this post, I am going to limit the scope to what you need to leverage it in a serious home based business.

As you know, attraction marketing is a simple but powerful concept that enables you to cultivate clients for your business by sharing your knowledge, skills and expertise. When you provide valuable information, people are naturally attracted to you and more likely to purchase your products and services.

While that makes sense, it raises a natural question: how does a person just starting (who has little knowledge and expertise) attract people with their knowledge and expertise!? :-)

There are two pieces to this puzzle...

1. The mindset

2. The tools & training

Mindset

So let's talk about mindset. There are a lot of keys to having the right mindset, but one of the big ones people mess up is they don't understand that the word expert is relative.

Contrary to what most people think, an expert is not just someone who has tons of knowledge and years of experience. Especially in the context of home business ownership, an expert is someone who knows more than the person they are talking to.

When appropriately defined that way, you can see that 'expert' really is relative. A proper mindset is definitely something serious home business owners need to focus on so I'll get more into it in subsequent posts. Nonetheless, that is a good start for getting out of the gate.

Tools and Training

Which brings us to tools and training. As you can imagine, there are certain tools and training that must be in place to leverage attraction marketing effectively.

1. A marketing system that leverages a direct response 'pipeline'.

That's just a fancy way of saying there is a process set up that will automatically walk people through the sales process. It's called direct response because its designed to get people to act instead of just brand (think ShamWow vs the Coca Cola Polar Bears).

Normally, you are the one who does all the selling, following up, and answering questions before you make a sale or someone joins your team. Not only is doing business this way very disheartening, it's also very ineffective because you spend so much time on activities that don't produce any profit.

A sales pipeline will walk prospects through the process automatically and educate them along the way so the right people come out on the other end and you deal with the ones who are qualified, excited and see you as an expert.

2. Training on how to generate traffic into that pipeline.

With a pipeline in place, your job is to get enough people in the front end so a consistent stream of customers and partners come out on the back end. You will pick your favorites, but the best attraction marketers use everything from Pay Per Click & Search Engine Optimization to Article Marketing and Video.

For most new people, this is like telling them they should pilot the space shuttle to the moon...it's just not gonna happen. They may have a goal of being a serious home business owner, but they don't have the first clue how. That's why it's critical that the marketing system you leverage doesn't just have a direct response pipeline, but also the step-by-step training on how to use it.

This is where most marketing systems leave a lot to be desired. It may not seem like a big deal at first, but it's very important because even if you could teach yourself, you would still be on the hook to train everyone on your team too. Obviously it's much better to have the system do it.

That's the quick and dirty of it. If you are looking for a serious home business, you will want to make sure you leverage attraction marketing and use these tools (at a minimum) to do it.

We'll cover more of the specifics of these 2 key areas in future posts in the series.
