One Lesson In Excellence From Direct Message On Twitter
One Twitter Response and Several Lessons For Attraction Marketing Excellence
You know how it is. Many of the Direct Messages you receive on Twitter may or may not capture you atention, correct?
Like anything else, some do and others definitely do not.
However, the following Tweet caused me to instantaneously push my inner pause control for a few quick moments:
“Do one thing today that will improve your life tomorrow…Please share what it is and thanks so much for following me.” (http://twitter.com/itsallsuccess)
I Believe The Reason I Was Captured By This Particular DM Was Because:
1. I simply thought it was a quality message and I'm always looking to learn tips for personal development and attraction marketing.
2. It was unique.
3. It emphasized taking positive action.
4. The positive action was related to me and not only for marketing a service or product online.
5. It complemented who I was (I am "in" to purpose and self development).
Responding Almost immediately, I replied:
"That's a great response DM. Actually, I did a "challenge effort" and posted two make-a-difference things. One FB; One Tweet"
What I Learned: My "Take Aways"
1. You can make an impact with only 140 characters or less!
2. Strive to include in my Twitter marketing strategy ways to prompt actions or attitudes that will genuinely help others.
3. It is good to stimulate a response when appropriate for the purpose of possibly beginning a good relationship with the other person.
4. "Lee, keep pursuing excellence."

Attraction Marketing Excellence and Telling Our Stories
Reading through an email from a site I stopped at about a week or so ago, I found myself returning to the same site "to check things out."
And, personally, I am glad for my return visit to Melanie's site and plan on making that stop again in the very near future.
Why? Because of what I am learning in my attempt to continue in my pursuit of attraction marketing excellence.
"Firing from the hip" so-to-speak, here are...
Several Tips In This Leg Of My Journey
About The Initial Email
The email I responded to was:
- Brief
- Asked Several Good Questions
- Prompted me to read Melanie's story.
- Which, obviously, got me back to her web page.
How about that for one style of an email designed to have the reader take action and be exposed to more of a marketer's material? I say: not bad stuff!
- Brevity.
- Well thought through, personally challenging questions.
- A prompt to discover more personal information about the person.
- A highlighted link back to the web page.
About Melanie's Story
Allow me to simply rattle off several of the points I learned from my venture into Melanie's internet marketing journey.
Two Immediate Observations...
- Always remember the power of a good story.
- When you tell a story, tell it well and develop it around a central theme. In this case, hers was sharing the power and example of persistence from her own background.
My Point...
Stories = sharing = potentially identifying = the potential of really listening = a potential "buy in" to the reason for the story being told.
Additional Tips In Excellence From Melanie's Story
Personally, I enjoyed her sharing the topic with me up front: persistence.
No guessing, wondering or trying to figure out what this was all about. Personally, I wanted to read about persistence.
A Few More Of My Personal "Take-Aways"
- Her openness. She was transparent in not only the ups and downs but in places you could sense the emotions.
- Very closely related to the above was a sense of "being real."
- No overkill on the links. In several places you could click a link or two: but without "link overkill, lol!" Of course, the positive side of this was that there were links in the right places!
- Well crafted questions that helped the reader identify where they might be in terms of their own desires.
- The sequence (at least from my point of view). How she began, facts leading up to her turning point, her ultimate success, and a qualified -- yet personal -- invitation to investigate joining with her along the way. For me, this is one of my most important lessons. I used to teach a very similar sequence in another setting and though somewhat common, I totally appreciated being both reminded and challenged with a good example.
1. A "before" factor.
2. A "turning point" factor.
3. An "after" factor.
4. An "invitation" factor.
