I have to admit that I have never watched more than 5 minutes of MTVs "The Hills." I tried to watch an episode once and it was painful. I adore Gossip Girl, a scripted tv show about spoiled rich kids, but the "reality show" hawked by MTV makes me uncomfortable. You feel embarrassed for these vapid, boring talentless girls who buy into their manufactured celebrity. But that is not my point. Regardless of not being a viewer there is no denying the actors/participants' existence. Lauren Conrad is splashed all over the tabloids and Heidi and Spencer are these obnoxiously amusing douche bags who set up ridiculously "candid" photo ops. Spencer's "creepy flesh-colored beard" is almost as famous as LC. But amongst these unlikeable horrible human beings Audriana Partridge emerged.

Audriana Partridge is a beautiful girl whose eyes look wonky in pictures. To me, and I believe the rest of the tabloid-reading public, this fact makes her more human and therefor more accessible. Also, the public loves an underdog. Stories of Lauren Conrad and that other chick ganging up on poor little Audriana tug at the heartstrings. What female has not been the target of harrassment from a seemingly pretty popular chick? Molly Ringwald was queen of movies with that same theme back in the 80s. Perez Hilton has definitely blogged in Audriana's favor and making her a pretty little victim to nemesis Lauren Conrad. She probably has a great publicis in her pocket as well.

The photos of Audriana moving out of the pool house smiling radiantly feels like something bigger. She hasn't lamented her troubles on her myspace blog or been photographed giving dirty looks. She's kept her head up and stuck out whatever deal with MTV she had. When nude photos of her surfaced she didn't cry afoul and didn't feign mock embarrassment. She's moving on to bigger and better things and has a movie coming out soon. See Lauren Conrad? Nice girls do finish first.
