Steve Irwin Zoo

A visit to Australia Zoo is a totally different experience to visiting any other conventional zoo. There are not many places on earth you can get up close and personal with a variety of wild animals in a safe environment. It is not just safe, but fun and inspiring too. An Australia Zoo experience is an experience that makes memories forever.

Australia Zoo staff and the Irwin family dedicate themselves to offering a truly unique experience. Their passion is to share their love and knowledge of the animals that are a part of the Australia Zoo family. The Irwin's passion is their animals and to share this passion with the world.

Australia Zoo is an exciting and comfortable place for the animals as well as for you. For a truly different zoo animal experience, spend some time at Australia Zoo with the tigers, crocodiles, mammals, reptiles and birds. See Australian animals and animals on the endangered list from overseas.

Check out the Crocoseum, the Tiger Temple, chat with a keeper, relax with a picnic in the grounds, and even take a walk with the dingoes.

Crocoseum – see the Action at Australia Zoo

Steve Irwin's dream to build his Crocoseum defied all odds and people's attitude was it could never be done. But that is the Irwin family - tell them they can't do something and they will achieve it! In the Crocoseum, you can see what hides in Australia's murky waterways, just out of sight - the feared crocodile.

His dream was to be able to bring male Saltwater Crocodiles into pens alongside each other for the public to see at Australia Zoo. Steve Irwin achieved his dream. He built clear water ponds using a series of complicated channels and gates to move the big male crocodiles around safely.

And it is an international success - people visit from across the world to learn about this prehistoric creature. The Crocoseum takes you on a magical journey through the world of the prehistoric crocodiles, slithering snakes, amazing birds and the incredible elephants.

Australia Zoo’s Breathtaking Tiger Temple

Get close to the incredible big cats - five tigers and four cheetahs in the Tiger Temple. The enclosure is built to simulate a tumbledown South-East Asian temple, but with a twist.

These pussycats have their very own swimming pool to cool off in, in summer and it is heated in winter. Australia Zoo's cats live a life of luxury with their keepers entertaining them with new toys and teaching them to work for their treats. These gorgeous cats are highly endangered in their natural habitat and this is fabulous way to see them.

Take a walk with the tiger, their keeper and your family - something really special. Wow - how would you feel? You can even have the encounter captured forever.

At Tiger Temple, you will also meet three small eared Asian elephants. You can even get to help feed these animals too.

Children are Special at Australia Zoo

Australia Zoo even has a special place for children to go. The Kids Zoo is where children can interact with lambs, calves, kids and piglets. After the morning bedlam of breakfast time, these creatures are ready to play and entertain their visitors.

What a special experience for the little ones. They can help the keepers clean the animal enclosures, bottle feed them, even groom them, and, of course, lots of fun and attention together.
