Why should you practice hatha yoga? Why not do another form of exercise such as running, body building, lifting weights, or aerobics. Maybe you should join a club where you can ski, river raft or play soccer. Of course other forms of exercise work your body in various ways, but from ancient knowledge hatha yoga is a complete, systematic and time-tested form of exercise that will compliment your other activities.
Then again, if you don’t exercise at all, hatha yoga is the perfect way to start. It is designed for people of all ages and levels of fitness. The yoga breathing exercises draw more oxygen to your blood, which energizes the cells, rejuvenating the body from the inside out. Certain asanas affect the glands and regulate the production of hormones. In fact, hatha yoga does great things for all systems of the body.
A very small effort pays off almost instantly with greatly increased feelings of well being. With regular practice, you will quickly experience how your body feels lighter and more energetic. One should Balance strength with flexibility and other more subtle forms of yoga like meditation, which is easy to add to your life and will relieve stress and tension, and calm the mind.
