Third accident involving Australians...

An Australian plunged to his death from a mountain in Norway, after struggling to open his parachute during a BASE jump, news reports revealed.

It is the third fatal accident involving Australians in BASE jumping in three years. The latest was a man in his thirties' He jumped off the 1084 metre Kjerag peak, a location very popular with such jumpers.

Witnesses have revealed the jumper had problems getting hold of the lever that opens the parachute, according to Vibek Knutson, vice president of the Stavenger BASE. The has not been any evidence suggesting faulty mechanisms with the parachute gear.
