This is a good article. More & more people need to understand that posting your article to just any directory can hurt your article content quality in the form of getting links dropped from the SERP's. However, the vice versa applies as well. There are far more than 10 (in fact hundreds) of -established- high PR article directories that, for SEO enthusiasts, should not ignore.
Based on my personal experience, if you want the best experience in your article submissions:
- Investigate the article directories(!). You want to confirm their establishment. If they have been around for a long time AND have a good PR rating, they should be considered in your submission outsourcing, service, or software ventures.
- If you find article directories that do not meet this requirement, delete them from any form of automated or outsourced campaigns. Anyone you hire that does your article submissions should clearly understand the quality of the directories is utmost priority.
- Don't fall for the article duplication myths on article submission & writing sales pages. In my experiences, my clients have been hit hard before consulting with me by submitting the same content to too many unestablished directories, which contributed to the dropping of those backlinks to many of the article directories (except 2, and only 2) on pages containing their article - even if the article was on a directory with high quality PR & solid establishment. Others on the other hand, have maintained hundreds of backlinks from a single article posted to many qualified directories in just a few days from submission - even after more than a year has passed.
- Rewriting/spinning is important. However, never leave the quality of your article completely in the hands of automated software. Check all rewriting work - or hire someone who will.
- If you want your article approval rate to be at its highest, follow the submission guidelines at the EzineArticles directory. Familiarize yourself with it & base your articles on those guidelines, and you'll rarely face rejections.
You will get frustrated in this venture because it isn't always easy - like many of those article submission programs tell you. It requires trial & error. It may frustrate you. However, the sooner your go through that & familiarize yourself with it - you'll understand that article submissions are an invaluable asset to your business.
