Automatic pool cleaners are an incredible time saver for pool owners. You can now avoid having to spend what little free time you have scrubbing the pool and cleaning up refuse and leaves by installing an automatic pool vacuum device that will do the work for you. You can find quite a few different types and in this review we will describe some of them as well as outline what each type does.

The automatic pool cleaner is the first kind of automatic pool vacuum that we will discuss. This device is entirely mechanical and does not use any digital components. This machine uses the water supply to power itself so it can clean up dirt and refuse within the pool and to move from one location to the next. You can let it run and it will move in random, overlapping patterns that will have your pool clean in a few hours. Due to internal currents in the pool there will be a few areas it cannot clean or you might find dirty spots because you have not allowed enough time to elapse and it has not yet made it to those spots. The device will clean about 95% of the surface area which will only leaver you a tiny bit that you will have to clean yourself.

While these machines really only act as a pool vacuum they do function on their own so you do not have to oversee it yourself. The robotic pool cleaner is an extremely popular machine that we will discuss next. This particular product is very expensive because of its sophistication and complexity when compared to other devices. The robotic pool cleaner has its own computer as well as its own filter and will prevent and sense debris that might clog up the filter for the pool. You should not swim in the pool when it is running due to safety precautions since this device is electrically powered (while it has been manufactured as a waterproof device it can be very deleterious if any electrical contacts become unprotected and are in direct contact with the water).

Automatic pool vacuums come with brushes that can be added as well as powerful water streams that it can use to dislodge stuck on bits of debris, refuse and dirt. For this reason it will keep your pool very clean and you will have very little touch up cleaning that you will have to spend time doing. You can find a variety of products that are designed with various pool sizes in mind created by different manufacturers (all, by the way, have their own devoted fan base). For the most part, all of these devices function similarly, but some have special additional features, like the Aquabot T2--it has special filters that make sure the water you swim in will be crystal clear. As it vacuums the pool, it also runs all the water through filters that screen out ultrafine microscopic particles (they can screen out algae to prevent it from blooming in your pool).

Ultimately the automatic pool vacuum you decide on will largely depend upon: your pool size, how dirty it gets (does it get run off from your garden or are there trees near by) and the size of your budget.
