I don’t know about you but I am a used car owner because I can never afford to buy a new car, so I always have a car troubles. Since it is older car and I can never able to afford to have mechanic fix it for me, so I end up doing auto repair myself.

I am going to teach you about auto repair yourself. The most common problems with used cars are always the problem with the car wont start. It’s very frustrating when you’re ready to go to work and your car wont start due to battery or alternator problem.

Since you don’t have much money to have it tow or have mechanic diagnose it, don’t worry because I will teach you how to do automotive troubleshooting yourself. When your car does not start, there are too many things could happen to your vehicle, but there is two most common problems that the driver face everyday.

First, it could be your battery is very old and second, it could be problem with car alternator. Since you don’t have much money to spend, you really want to know for sure which one is the problem, so you don’t waste your hard earn money.

Here is a technique for checking and determine which one is the cause:

First thing first, you need to have someone help you jump start your car, but before you do that loosen one of your car battery cable first, not too loose, just enough that you can pull it out easy.

After someone helps you jump start your car and it is running, pull the battery cable the one that you loosen it. If the car is still running, your car alternator is good and your battery is dead, but if your car quit running which mean your car alternator is bad. By doing this, I hope it helps you save tremendous of money since you don’t have much to burn anyway. I don’t know about you, but I always have a problem with money when my car breaks down since I live from paycheck to paycheck.
