Autumn wedding cakes

Planning a wedding is a blast...a stressful blast but fun nonetheless and I think the best part is picking out your wedding cake. If you're reading this you have, or are considering a fall wedding and that gives you plenty of possibilities for gorgeous, tasty cakes.

Lets start simple. You can have any sort of cake at an autumn wedding but why not give it a fall feel? You could do a chocolate or butter cream cake with white frosting and decorate with marzipan leaves, pumpkins and acorns.

If you're like me, you love pumpkin everything and a wedding cake with a pumpkin spice filling and cream cheese frosting is sure to knock the socks off everyone at your reception. You can decorate with mini pumpkins and sugar spun to look like hay (cake featured below) or you can decorate with sugar paste details in warm fall colors.

Flowers don't necessarily mean spring, and you can incorporate them into your wedding cake while still keeping with the fall motif. Pictured is a beautiful cake that has unmistakable autumn color tones! It's iced with a deep chocolate fondant and lace imprinted confectionery brands in fall colors...freesias and hydrangeas perch on the four tiers. A cake like this would be stunning at any reception.

This cake (below) is fairly typical looking as far as fall wedding cakes go, but what makes it unique is it's Oreo and cream filling. Decadent! The exterior is made with a chocolate butter cream, and the leaves and acorns are made out of gum paste.
