At Last after 12 years of waiting James Cameron will give us an other much waited motion picture Avatar. The release is dated for the 18^th December 2009 worldwide. Till that day the only thing we can enjoy to watch is the trailer and some pictures from the website. Not much information is given out from the official website about the story or the characters but I’ll try to figure out as much as I can from the trailer. As we know the title of the movie is AVATAR not to be mistaken with “Avatar the last air bender” the new movie directed by M. Night Shyamalan, due to release next year based on the nickelodeon animated series of the same name.

In My encyclopedia Avatar refers to:

1a Hinduism. The descent of a god to earth in bodily form; incarnation. 1b one of the ten appearances of Vishnu in human form.

2 Figurative. Any manifestation in bodily form; embodiment; He sees himself quite simply as a kind of technological, come for the liberation of mankind (Time).

In the website is always featured in the background a half face, with features close to a human face but blue in color with glittery freckles an big piercing yellow eyes which gives it a feline look. I could presume that this is the face of the Alien race revealed in this movie. The information about the story given from the official website is like this

In the epic action adventure AVATAR, James Cameron, the director of “Titanic,” takes us to a spectacular new world beyond our imagination. On the distant moon Pandora, a reluctant hero embarks on a journey of redemption and discovery as he leads a heroic battle to save a civilization.

The hero I believe is Jack Sully played by Sam Worthington which we saw in Terminator Salvation the same franchise invented by James Cameron.

I’ve seen and re seen the trailer like a hundred times and I can deduct that a group of humans go to this distant new world Pandora as settlers. All the humans are wearing air masks thus make me believe that the air is not breathable. At one point Jack Sully in a wheelchair which implies that he suffers from a disability, sees a Na’vi in a water tank. Later Jack Sully is put in a chamber similar to CT scan, and comes out transformed into a Na’vi himself and he can walk again. He hits the class violently smiles to guy on the other side and says “this is great” the only line sad in the trailer. There is an other Na’vi in the laboratory presumably an other human transformed into a Na’vi.

Jack Sully now a Na’vi is seen exploring Pandora wearing human clothes no air mask with a backpack and a fire arm in hands, he is attacked by an enormous creature and he flees from it. Pandora is presented in rich vegetation with enormous boulder floating in the air. A female Na’vi is featured shooting a bow attacking something or someone. Then we can see more Na’vi dressed in native clothing very similar to Native Americans. There are shots of a battle between Na’vi and human, the humans have aircraft similar to locusts with twin horizontal rotors. Land troops attack in an enormous mechanical suite similar to the loader in Aliens. A fierce battle takes place between the Humans and the Na’vi the Na’vi ride beasts similar to a Pterosaur, we can see the female Na’vi crying as she lost someone close to her, the trailer ends with two Na’vi a male and a female embracing each other.

The trailer gives me an idea that this is a fantastic movie but as I always say trailers are deceiving. At the release of the movie we can find out if my assumptions are close or not most times I am right but that doesn’t mean that the movie is as I describe it in this hub. 

In my point of view it is a sci-fi version of The New World replacing Native Americans with an alien race.How ever I trust a lot in James Cameron and I believe that he will present us a movie like no other.
