It's worth a shot!
It's worth a shot!

Four months ago, I started to develop red blotches of irritated skin on my cheeks. My cheeks felt kind of hot and after a few days, it started to look like I was getting pimples in the red area.

What the hell! I thought. I haven’t had acne since freaking high school!

A few weeks later, I saw a commercial on television for rosacea medication and I wondered if I was starting to develop the condition. I thought I probably was, but I didn’t know how to treat it. So I started plastering make-up on my face to hide the redness. That sucked because the redness and irritation started getting worse… especially after I was done showering. It didn’t make me feel very pretty when I had to cake concealer and foundation on my face just to look normal.

Then I saw a commercial for that Aveeno Ultra-Calming Lotion. The commercial said that natural ingredients were used to even out skin tone, and I thought that buying some lotion would be a hell of a lot cheaper than going into a doctor for some of that rosacea medicine. So, I went down to Wal-Mart and found the Aveeno lotion section. The little bottle was about $13 but I figured it was worth a shot.

So, I started using it as a daily moisturizer. It has SPF15 in it, so I figured that was a good thing too. I was happy to know that a little bit of the lotion went a long ways. When I applied it right after getting out of the shower, I didn’t have to use very much to get my whole face covered… not just my cheeks.

I didn’t notice any changes in the first 2 weeks, but I stuck with it. I hoped that if I gave it more time, it would have a chance to work, and I was right.

After about a month and a half, the irritated redness in my cheeks started to calm down, but I still had the tiny hard white pimples. After an evening of digging the little bastards out with a straight pin, I slathered on the moisturizer and monitored my face to see if any more would appear. They didn’t. The lotion was actually doing its job :)

Now, after a few months of using the Aveeno Ultra-Calming Moisturizer on my face every morning, the rosacea-like redness on my face is gone and I don’t have to wear concealer and cake on the foundation anymore. I finally feel pretty again. I feel like people are seeing me instead of my red face!

I highly recommend the Aveeno Ultra-Calming Lotion if you are have the same troubles I had. I hope you found this review to be helpful. Good luck!

My face was completely back to normal for our trip to Seattle... Hooray!
