Your Home Business Will Grow If You Avoid These Mistakes
70Why try to reinvent the wheel when you can simply copy what works!
Driving through London the other day, I was struck by the number of people who put their indicators on to turn either right or left and then, when they arrived at the turning, they quickly changed their minds and carried straight on.
Now if the driver behind was not concentrating on the task in hand, there could well be an accident. And, of course, it is the following driver who would be held to blame for the mistakes of others!
If I had a penny for every time a cyclist swerved in front of me, or simply pulled out from behind something, I’d be a millionaire, I’m sure. Again, I was blameless (as always, of course!), but who would get the blame for any accidents caused? Why, the motorist following on.
To change the subject completely. Have you ever shared a house with other people, or lived in a student house or nurses’ home?
Remember using a shared Kitchen (or bathroom)? When you went to cook (or take a shower, let’s say), you found that the person who used the place before you had left it in a mess. Who would get the blame if you did not clean up their mess properly, as well as your own when you’d finished cooking (or showering)?
Not really fair, is it? But it always seems to be the person following on who gets blamed for the mistakes of others.
So what are the mistakes to beware of in seeking a business opportunity?
(1) Blindly accepting what you read about an opportunity.
This is probably the biggest mistake made by newcomers to business (or ‘newbies’ as they are often called).
You must always, yes ALWAYS, read everything carefully at least twice. Preferably read everything three or more times. The more you can read the information, the better.
Why is this?
Well, I used to teach Physics up to ‘A’ level and Oxford and Cambridge Universities’ level. I always told my students that the best way to understand anything was to read the information a few times, as many as they could stand (!).Then leave it for a while and read it once more. They should read the material, at least, once (again preferably more than once) out loud.
You see, the brain absorbs information in several different ways:
(a) Through the eyes or visual absorption. This is the normal way you learn something by reading.
(b) Through the ears or auditory absorption. This is how you learn something by hearing about it. Hence the reading out loud part.
(c) Through repetition of the information. Hence reading several times.
(d) Re-enforcement, i.e. going over something you have learned about some time before. Hence the part about having a short break after you have tried the first three above and then reading the material again.
You should try and use ALL the ways of learning.
‘Too much effort’, some of you might be saying.
What? Too much effort to ensure that you never have to do any REAL work ever again? Too much effort to make sure that you will have a millionaire’s life style? I don’t think so!
OK, Lesson over!!
But it’s well worth remembering the advice above when looking at a business opportunity.
Back to the mistakes.
(2) Not being aware of future payments.
Don’t be fooled by a very low introductory offer. Make sure you know what, if anything, you will have to pay per month to continue your membership or whatever it is in the future.
At your first attempt, I would suggest that you don’t enter into any long term payment commitments. They are sometimes very difficult to get out of. I know, to my cost!!
(3) Make sure that you are given plenty of material to help your business.
This can be in the form of:
(a) Advertising material.
Does the program have well prepared material that you can use straight away if you want to and you can change to your own needs when you get a little more experienced?
(b) Keywords that you can use for your business advertising on the web.
Some programs take all the initial hard work away from you. Be sure to see if the program has a variety of lists of keywords that you can use as and how you want to. Also be sure that the information suggests how you could use the keywords so that you can start straight away.
(c) Campaigns that actually work.
Unfortunately, there are many business opportunities that are all gloss and fine words and are basically a con.
Be sure that there is proof that you are going to be able to copy an idea that is actually making a real person money. Preferably, lots of money!
Make certain that it is very, very clear what you are going to do and how you are going to do it. If there are videos showing you how someone has already made money so that you can copy exactly what is successful, so much the better.
In Summary
Make sure you concentrate on programs that are really successful and that you can copy exactly!
Here is a program that lets you copy exactly what a very successful internet entrepreneur, Jamie Lewis, does to maintain the fortune he has built.
