Have you ever heard the phrase "Money can't buy happiness?" if you have, and you live your life by it, then this page isn't for you. On the other hand, if you've wanted to test the theory and see whether or not money can buy happiness, then you should definitely stay here! This page will guide you through several ways of making money- mostly via the internet- that may not get you rich over night, but after setting them up, you'll get to cash in over and over without ever doing the work again! So let's get started so you can enjoy one or more residual income opportunity!

What Is Residual Income?

Residual, or "passive" income is just as it sounds- competely hands free, after an initial setup period. Some examples of passive money are:

  • Royalties- An author or actor/actress are an example of this. Every book an author sells pulls in some cash for not only the publishing company, but to the author, even though the author only writes that same book once! J.K. Rowling, author of the famous Harry Potter series has made her fortune from selling only 7 books!
  • Rental- If you live in an apartment then you're constantly paying your landlord, and he's enjoying all the cash he gets passively. Imagine owning an apartment building with 100 rooms and filling up just half of that. That's some major income, and you only need to rent out the rooms!
  • Severance Packages- Okay, so maybe it'll take a while to get this stream of income residually, but you get it nonetheless, after several decades of work for a company, usually.

And there are many more! Most income opportunities you find will require that you actively perform an activity, and then earn an amount of money for that specific work. Sometimes it's measured in hours or other criteria. These are linear income and your job is probably the perfect example (unless you're alreay making passive cash!). The above examples of constantly flowing money are very hard to achieve, normally, and it might take years before you get any noticeable benefit, if, indeed, you do. However, with the advent of the internet, things have changed drastically.

Internet Based Residual Income Opportunities

You've probaby seen a ton of "spam" emails telling you that you can make millions of dollars in a day or a week or a month. Well, there's some truth to these. You CAN make mone with most of the programs you see, or at least programs like them, it just won't be millions over night. There are a few types of creating residual income from the internet including, but not limited to:

Affiliate Marketing

Ad Servicing

Multi-Level Marketing

This hub will go into each, and give you some examples that you can use to start making money onlne!

Affiliate Marketing

So what is affiliate marketing? Well, quite simply, it's selling a product that you yourself probably don't make, for a percent commission on the sale. For example, say that I have written an ebook that costs $100, but can't manage to figure out how to sell it. To get the word out, I start an affiliate program, and let people sign up and become affiliates of my product. The reason people become affiliates is because they want a percent of the commission on the sale. If I was selling for $100, maybe I'm giving you a 75% commission and so you can get $75 by just getting on person to buy the ebook!

Now there are a number of things that make this residual online money. Sometimes it isn't passive, but if you do it the right way, it becomes very nice continuing commissions. So what's the right way?! Most internet affiliates create a specific website or blog for their affiliate's items. After creating a website, they then place any affiliate information on it, and work to get traffic to it. When someone clicks on the website, they'll be brought to the page with several affiliate products, usually seprately listed and described in an article or two with a link somewhere on the page. The link on the page for an affiliate product will be specific to the affiliate, even though the page the link leads to is the product owner's page. Confusing, but basically the article page won't be the page where a buyer can purchase from, that will always be lead to by the affiliate link.

That's it! After an affiliate marketer has created their page and gotten it "ranked" in search engines (mainly Google), they would then rarely provide new content, and may even forget about it as they continue marketing other affiliate products. It doesn't matter when someone visits the site, so long as the product is still being sold, the affiliate will receive a cut!

Some great affiliate websites are listed below:

Ad Servicing

While you can make a pretty penny from affiliate marketing, there's also a lot of stress involved in getting a ton of people that are actually willing to buy your promoted product. What if you were selling a make money online program that had already been bought by your target? Or an ebook on how to teach your dog cool tricks, but the preview was something the buyer already knew? Maybe it's just that the product is too expensive for the buyer to justify. This is why it can get frustrating trying to be an affiliate marketer. On the other hand, there are still ways to make money without ever needing to sell a product directly. How? Two words: Google Adsense.

Chances are, you've probably heard of Adsense, the ad publishing platform that advertisers of all shapes and sizes- quite literally as some people use it to promote their personal blogs- can purchase ad space for any and everything. The specifics of the advertiser's work aren't as important to learning how to build a residual income online, but the publisher of information that will service ads are a different story, because that's you!

If you were to start a blog about your favorite television series- maybe Burn Notice, then you could sign up for Adsense and then set up some content on your site. After it's properly set up, Google will search your page with its special software and then send ads that are logically placed with your published material. For example, if you did do a blog on a television series, then you would get more television ads- maybe from a person selling DVDs of popular TV shows or TV streaming websites. Every time someone clicks on one of those ads, you get some cash!

The amount you are paid varies by what advertisers are paying Google, but if you have a popular site- say with 1000 visitors daily- and you are focusing on a topic that is very popular with advertisers, then chances are you'll get at least $0.50 per click. So you would likely make at least $25 a day if just 5% of the people who visited clicked an ad! Crazy, huh?!

This can be done residually because all you have to do is set up your website and page once, and then you're constantly getting views! Check out the video below for more information on Adsense, and how to use it for passive online income!

Mult-Level Marketing

The final type of (usually) internet based continuing commissions programs are multi-level marketing. Most of you have probably heard of these types of opportunities. With these programs, you make money by referring people into the program. It's kind of an affiliate program, but instead of selling a product once and getting commissions on it, you must sell lots of "products" or memberships, and then the people that do join will be placed into our downline.

So what are downlines?! Most multi-level marketing programs, or MLMs, for short, have several different levels of downlines- hence the name. These downlines are the people that were referred into the program by you directly, and, the people that those people referred. Most of the times the "matrix" of a downline can go on for several levels. A 5x6 matrix, for example, will go on for 5 levels, and you'll earn commissions based off of payments from all five!

Let's say that there's a company that requires you pay a membership/servicing fee of $10 per month to stay with it. Now let's say that company gives you a 5x6 matrix. Everyone referred by you, either directly by you or by your other referrerals, will be required to pay that same fee, but you get a commission on it once it's paid out. Let's say that commission was 10%, or $1

Assuming you got 5 people, then they each pay $10, and you earn a commission on each person monthly. You get $5 monthly. Not too great, but now let's expand and assume those five people got five people each. You still get 10% commission on those people. So your 5 referrals get 5 referrals of their own, meaning you've indirectly referred 25 people, and directly referred 5. You pay $10 per month, but gain $30!

Still not that great, but you're profiting $20 residually now. Well let's just say this matrix continues another level, and all of those 25 members directly refer 5 people, meaning you indirectly refer an additional 125 people, bringing your total to 155 people and dollars per month!!! For the sake of argument, let's just say it goes on yet another level, and those 125 people get 5 referrals each! 625 more people are added to your downline if this happens, and you get a 10% commission on everyone that stays in!!! Now let's go crazy and say this goes on for one last level- the 5th- and you get 5 indirect referrals from all 625 of the previous level referrals. That bring the total you could possibly earn up to over $3900 per month!! All earned residually!

It may sound unbelievably, but there ARE programs that are doing it. Want an example? Why not check out these sites:
