I set up my store now how do I get traffic?

Two weeks ago I accepted a project to manage an online antiques store based on BANS software.

I have no experience on selling online or eBay for all that matter, much less with BANS Software so I had a slow start to try and understand my limitations and get to know the software.

After setting up the store I came to a problem: How do I get the store noticed? There are probably thunsands, probably millions, of online stores that sell what I'm selling and much better positioned in the market and search engines.

My first step was submit the URL to search engines but that won't get me visitors or visibility although that in long term will help me.

The problem is I need to start selling or won't make any money since the real owner of the store is the only one allowed to have adsense in there...

So i started looking at the site now as a store but as a regular site, although I'm interested in people buying maybe I should give them something more, that would bring value to the store.

After a few minutes thinking decided to add some pages with content that might interested the people who might buy the products I'm selling. Here's my quick study:
  • First wrote down my niche so I won't think "off-niche". My niche are antiques.

  • The domain is .co.uk meaning it will probably get more visitors from the UK. That is good since they have a decent pay check and like Antiques.

  • Write some pages related to the niche.

I wrote my first page and have 5 more planned. I'm pretty sure all the pages will bring a decent value.

Although I don't have access to statistics yet, I noticed a slow but gradual rising on the impressions of the eBay Campaings so I guess this is working.

Resume:

  1. Pay attention from where you are getting the most traffic

  2. Search for what kind of content is your niche most searched for and write pages related to that subject

  3. Don't forget to always try to get a link, submit to search engines and don't forget to campaign to relevant audiences

  4. Be patient. Results might now be immediate depending on your niche

And here you go, I'll write lesson 2 when i get more on my niche store.

Excelent content one more time! I'm having the same problem in the portuguese version of project. Your tips are really useful.
