BECOMING A LIVING METAPHOR

its okay to be a rebel even when you're mature and settled

Im tired

of worn out metaphors

the road so long

like rows of corn

BORING

I want new

hell id like to be used

in a metaphor or two

even if that means

next time

 my mom asked

if everyone was jumping off a bridge

well ma i hate to break it to you

but id start the revolution

and be the first in the river

and id read the next poem

from a friend

saying  my stomach dropped

like J. Stump from a bridge

I might have

attempted suicide

stamped big on my hospital file

and yeah life insurance would go up

but what price can be put

on being a living metaphor

the trees in the forrest

like J.Stump motionless

when he hit the water

after leaping from that bridge

what an animal

id be pumped

finding other metaphors to become

running from cops

in a beat up chevy nova

my heart raced

ill read in bold letters

like J.Stump on a highway chase

now thats what im about

so i challenge everyone

no more metaphors comparing the sun

to yellow crayons in a box

instead compare the sun

to that time you got lit on fire

whatever the case

don't be afraid

scars heal to some extent

and a good lawyer

well i guess that could be expensive

but there is no price tag

on good old life experience

If I stepped out of the box, would I just be stepping into another box? Has every experience been given a metaphor? Is what we create really our own creation or a recycled thought with new paint?

Big J

We all swim in metaphors and we can't help it. They make explaining things easier, don't you think? Specially when we become metaphors.

I adore metaphors, although mine are often twisted. Next time I create one, I'll wonder, "would J approve?"

metaphors are great

they're a living thing

and yes i think a lot of them are recycled and reused

thats why its refreshing to me to see new ones or odd ones

this was just me being tired of reading the same old idea's recycled
