The drumstick is a commonly eaten vegetable in south Asian countries like India and Pakistan

Health Benefits of Drumstick :

  • Drum stick juice when mixed with milk and given to the children helps to strengthen bones as they are a great source of Calcium.   • Nutritionally, drumstick pods and leaves carry great nutritive value as it a great sources of acrotene, phosphorus, calcium and vitamin "C" in them .They are eaten for the treatment of ascites, rheumatism and venomous bites as an antiseptic and also as a cardiac and circulatory stimulants.Inhaling the steam of water in which drumstick has been boiled helps to relife asthma and other various lung problem. Home remedies

  • The decoction of the drumstick seeds is found to be helpful in dysmenorrhea or scanty menstruation in women. Papaya fruit and aloe vera juice are also useful in such cases.
  • A hot infusion of the leaves provides relief in the case of skin diseases.The same kind of infusion can be bought to use in fevers to reduce temperature.
  • The paste of the roots of drumstick plant can be used in swellings and abscesses(applied externally).
  • Application of the oil obtained from the seeds of the drumstick reduces arthritic and rheumatic pain and swellings.Grind drumstick seeds or leaves to make a paste and mix lemon juice and appy on pimples to cure them as well as the scars left behind them.
