These locks will only read your fingerprint as the circulation runs through your finger. This means that if someone tried to fake the fingerprint, it won't read it, and if in the worst of cases someone cut off your finger, they would still be locked out. 

The biometric lock has a database of fingerprints that you can allow to gain access. When you press your finger to the scanner your finger print is read and compared to the database, if you are a match you gain access. If you want to be the only fingerprint allowed in, you have that power. If someone tries to get in, and they are not a match, the scanner with record a missed attempt, and will eventually shut down for a period of time if too many false attempts are made.
