Hi people thispost is 2 prevent the students from puttin wrong preference order for bits pilani......so please forward this to as many people as possible so that you can save the bright future of the upcoming engineers. ....this info is according to the general trend followed in bits and i m not against or for any discipline.....
1 .B.E (Hons) Computer science...or 2.B.E(Hons) EEE( depends on ur interest for students who are more interested in electricals they should prefer it because coz it has one of the best faculty in asia and for students who want a better placement should prefer comp sci because they get better pay than anyother branch in bits)
3.M.Sc(Tech) Information Systems(students who are more interested to enjoy life but still get a better pay than most other engineering degrees should prefer this.But students have to consider that this is not an engineering degree its just a substiute for comp sci without an engineering degree with very good placements)
3.B.E(Hons) Electrical& instrumentation (Has great scope in higher studies has only few courses differnt frm EEE)
3.B.E(Hons) Mechanical (100% placements easy course interesting also....and now a days da placemnts rock )
6.M.Sc(Hons) Economics And the reason i rate eco above other M.Sc.degrees coz itz easy and u can increase ur cgpa and secondly itz helpful for ppl intersted in management courses...Thirdly u have many finance companies coming to the campus and selecting students irrespective of their ENGINEERING degree
7.M.Sc(Hons) Mathematics (if u want a comp sci dual)
7. M.Sc(Hons) Physics(if u want a EEE/EIE/MECH dual and also physics is really intersting)
7.M.Sc(Hons) Chemistry(For any dual)
7.B.E(Hons) Chemical(Now a days placements are very good...and if the trend continues...probably Chemical engineering avg will be higher than Computer Science engineering)
8.B.E(Hons) Civil

im currently in dce-electrical i will get upgraded to IT on 20th aug. but nowadays newspapers r full of reports showing slaggging inIT sector plz tell me after 4yrs will IT be nowhere nd suggest me whether i should freeze electrical or get upgraded to IT plz reply soon as i have to freeze it before 20th aug.

Oh! please do not spoil & misguide youngers like this. Any B.E can learn Computer better than a B.E(cse) but reverse is never never true. Diya choice is the best. However U can't certify that technically BITS is better than DCE. Forgive me for this. ultimately you are my senior too in technical education(may be different college). @Diya I think itz a good choice if you are doin an MBA..More than the Delhi factor itz the exposure you get there which will help you for an MBA :) worrk hard and you will succeed...but as far as Technical education goes Bits anyday better than DCE

ive got e&c at BPHC at 307 score in 3rd iteration but my 1st pref.was cs which had 308 cutoff in 2nd iteration(acc. to marks cutoff posted here) do u have ny idea about recent cutoff? also ive got electrical in DCE which maybe upgraded to IT although i really wanted cs or e&c but that im not gettin at DCE still im joinin DCE becoz i plan to do mba after B.E. so i think delhi factor will help me prepare 4 iims considering the coachings ,seniors nd other opportunities. i hope ive taken a right decision but do tell me ur take in dis.

i have scored 301 and got EI in Goa. What acc. to u can i get from the following?
Hyd EEE-304.
Goa EEE-307(not sure)

i know that cutoffs won't fall much but i think personally that goa will be better than Hyd for this yearites. So should i lock the goa campus.Please say what do u think? i know that Hyd has gr8 faculty and all but I'm very confused abt. some comments here and on bits360 by some.

I have given reasons Y I expect Hyd to be a better coll than others...and as for DCE/NSIT they are good colleges...I have no comments against them...but when it comes to factors like MS/MBA I am sure that a BITS passout >>>> DCE/NSIT passout
@Diya Dont get swayed by one persons comments...talk to many people...from all the collegs yougot selected...and then decide..As for the placement statitistice they dont release it officially..Try it in forums like bits360
And when will people start realising that none of the passout from an IIT / BITS / NIT stop with engineering...Itz all abt your prospects for higher studies
@Nilesh Good decision if you are only interested in courses like Compsci or EEE/ECE...but it also requires immense effort from your side to be focused on your academics :)...All the best for future

To Diya: I also qualified for DCE/NSIT and my BITSAT score is 329, got Mech at Pilani but I will join DCE only(Mech or Upper branches). I will not join job just after 4 years. Let me see what seniors are doing there. People says that good Institutes must be selected for attaining higher goals in life but not for a simple job(which will come anyway anytime). then Delhi....it is India's capital. Other cities are nowhere near to Delhi in any aspects. Now you have 2 offers....think about your ultimate goal & then decide.

Sir, everybody says that his nest is the best. The web site which you gave to me...there only I read about BITS-Hyd and then my thought became further consolidated when on hyderabad rly station( going to SBC from GHY) I got similar news published in Indian express. I may try to scan and place here as an answer to you but this blame game will not give benefit to anyone. I also found that a selected kind of people are only advertising about BITS-hyd. For your kind information, I joined BITS(dual) in 2006 but left in Dec. I did not want to mention here the cause of leaving as I have due respect to such Institute but your all promises are not correct sir. Ultimately, in Dec'2006 it has become do or die situation for me and somehow I could manage IIT-Guwahati in 2007. Pages like this only misguided me in 2006 & this regret I will retain forever in life. It is not the buildings and AC classes but a good team of faculty and a good library makes a college wonderful. They may come at a later stage...agreed but what the first batch is going to get??? perhaps B.E(civil) BITS-Hyd will have more jobs and other will just watch the play.

I know 2 seniors studying in BITS-one in pilani and the other one in goa.
they told me that they expect the cut off to fall by around 5 marks in the third iteration and then, in the fourth and the fifth iterations, they told me that the cut offs can fall by around 8-10 more marks...
What do u think...I mean, on a whole, as far a i know, and from the past results, the cut offs may fall by around 12-15 more marks, i.e. to around 260 approximately...
one more reason I wud lyk to share wid all reading this hub...this may sound unconventional, but yes, this has actually been the case for the last two years...but may or may not be true this time...well, I've found that there is a difference of around 16-18 marks in the cut offs of B.Pharma and the lowest M.Sc. engg course...and everyone knows that this year, people getting 251 have been confirmed for B.Pharma. Now, the waiting list is also upto 230. And I think that B.Pharma should get filled up by around 244 marks...one importrant thing to note here is that after the first iteration, the wait list was 251 marks...that is why, B.Pharma is confirmed only till 251...now, it is possible that all the seats of B.Pharma are yet not filled up...wotsay???
so, B.Pharma shud go to around 244 marks(approx.)...it may even go lower than this...so, what I think is that according to the trend that has been going on for the past two years, 244+18=262...so the cut off for any M.Sc. course for engg should fall to around 260-262....
I know that I may have mentioned few unconventional things....But if I have wasted somebody's tym, then plz forgive me....I am also in the waiting list...my score is 264...thus, due to anxiety and lack of knowledge or rather limited knowledge that I have, I could post my queries and a few facts and suggestions here.
Plz comment on my facts...be it useful or useless...

@Paritosh A new college will surely have some problems...but what matters is how you pass out...And Bits Goa has proved with their first batch itself that how good they are...200 odd selections out of 600 in top universities apart from many being placed in good companies...SO go for the degree you want...and I dont distinguish between any campus...it all matters abt how you study and what you do in these 4 years :)
@anonmyous Good some one here to enlighten people...Now I know Bits Hyd is knew but where did you get the info that Bits Hyd is not being filled...FYKI the cutoff for Dual is 274 in Bits Hyd and 276 in Bits Goa
And If I start talking abt how bad your college(DCE/NSIT) is you may think twice before you advice anyone to even take the examination

I feel sad for those who are prefering BITS-Hyd (any course) & duals at Goa by leaving DCE/NIST etc and engg. branch at top AIEEE colleges. Perhaps their elders & parents are not experienced enough to guide them and so they are seeking advices through such pages. So many pages r available on Net giving informations about BITS and they themselves are highly contradictory. In the mid of june, Indian Express published a news that so many are not applying for BITS-Hyd inspite of clearing the test with good marks.ANYWAY!!! Most of us learn by committing mistakes only. May god help them.
Hi Arvind bhaiya! I have asked my queries to u before in the other hub. My score is 301 and i've got E&I in Goa. Above are EEE and CS of all campuses. I think i may get EEE Hyderabad. Some speculation is going on that Bits hyd campus will not be good and freshers will suffer. So after 3rd iteration, should i lock the campus at goa bcoz i think no upgradation will occur this time and only in 4th iteration. Do u think i can get EEE goa. It is currently at 313 i think. Please guide me as there are some pilani students who think that hyderabad will be very bad option and even goa will not be very good as is bits pilani.

@anubhav Frankly speaking B.Pharm freshers do not have good placements...and one must also remmeber itz only after M.Pharm that Pharmacy guys earn a lot...and Bits has very good prospects for M.Pharm from all top universities in India and abroad...And you shld also remember that no one stops with a B.E. or M.Sc....all do higher studies...
@Diya Electrical in DCE is good as DCE is a well established college...but for higher studies and MBA Bits tags matters more....so itz upto you to decide...talk to seniors from all campuses before coming to any conclusions
Placements surely would be better than that for Bits Goa coz the authorities now have an experience of starting a new college....we do learn from our mistakes :)
And the planning for the campus is good...and you must also remember that Bits is in Hyderbad which is the centre for so many research organizations and IT industries ...

my bitsat score is 264. i was in waitlist . after 2nd iteration ihave got B.pharma at pilani campus. i had filled both FES & FPB(as i was having both maths & bio in my 12th) forms with FES as first priority. i don't want to join in B.pharma as I don't know the scope of it.
my higher preferances were Msc duals at hyderabad & goa campuses. can i get any of these or any BE courses at hyderabad after further iterations?
should i send rs. 30000 to bits or it will be wasteful?
many of my friends are telling that any course from pilani is very good.
is there good placements & big companies take students from Msc duals for great packages from campuses?
also can you tell scope of B.pharma & do drug companies(like ranbaxy or foriegn ones) visit the campus to take students for placementsfrom B.pharma course.

sorry I mentioned Rahul by mistake. As mentioned by u I presume that they won't add any marks to me. After 2nd iteration I got CS in Hyderabad. My other options include Mechanical , EEE,CS all in Pilani. I don't think I can get EEE or CS in Pilani.If I get Mechnical Pilani offer after 28th most of students will choose their courses/prof. etc. I may find it difficult to good selection. In HYD I man not get seniors help. i worried about placements after 4 years because our will be 1st batch. what should I do now ? Please help me
@apuroopa Infact having a dual will give you a lot of scope to do an MS...an extra degree would mean better option for specialization in an inter disciplinary courses
@varsha Nope no way...you can only be slided to your higher prefernces..I still dont understand y you guys have so much negative perception about Goa campus when the guys from first batch itslef have made to more than 200 top universities for MS...and are becoming Global leaders

I have learned that last year, the cut off for first list in BITS was 304(including M.Sc. courses for engg only...not biology courses).
and the final cut off for engg courses was 278.
So, there is a fall of 26 marks. Now do you expect something similar this time too?
I think that the cut off for MSc course for engg this time for the first iteration is around 285. So, if it falls by 25 marks, then the final cut off can be around 260 marks for engg courses.
Do you think that this is a possibility?

Hi Rahul, I got 323 in BITSAT. i am sure that at least three questions are not having correct answers. my father talk to concerned professers at pilani they informed that marked will be added after verification. But final score remained 323. I offered B.E Elec & Electronics in Hyderbad. My next option is CS in Hyd. and Mechnical in Pilani. Could u suggest which course will be best for me. I am intrested in CS but i am little hesitent to join in HYD because in GOA initial years students are faced difficulty in getting correct placement. I love to study in Pilani but choice subject CS I may not get there pl advise.

No he did not attempt bitsat 2008, life itself is so cruel, whole life one is on this roller coaster we decided to take it slowly...he focused on iit this year...and seems he is not too pleased due to diff in cbse and isc.
Well not the end of life I believe...
I wil need your support in understanding about bitsat...i understand its online exam...but the procedure the formailites about dual degrees...
what if he opts for electronic telecommunications?
Can you suggest is this a dual degree or? Are there any other sectors in which he can excell? he was keen on aeronautics but seems indian institutes are not really upto the mark except for iit ones.
