Acne is most commonly associated with teenagers, but it actually affects all people including babies.  Baby acne is not common, but it happens enough to cause parents concern.  Normally this happens with they are a few weeks old up to six months with it happening occasionally past that age.  The acne is mostly on the face, forehead, cheeks and chin or around the eyes.  You may also see it on other areas such as the legs, buttocks or back.  Normally they are viewed as a red rash with potentially white heads forming.  It is attributed to the delivery or final stages of pregnancy when hormones from the mother go through the placenta as it is transferred to the baby.

First, there is no need to worry about baby acne as it goes away on its own and does not need to be treated.  If you do want to treat it there is a great vinegar solution that will help.  It’s not serious and choosing to do nothing is a viable option and something to consider.  You can just leave it alone and it will disappear all on its own.  Because oil is common with baby acne it’s good to wash the baby’s skin two or three times a day with a mild baby wash.  Stay away from sensitive skin like the babies face, more harm than good can be done.  Since the baby has an excessive amount of oil its best to stay away from lotions and oils commonly used for babies.

Vinegar solutions for baby acne can be used and many find the solution to work very well.  Still others report that the treatment provided minimal results.  You can speak with a pharmacist who will provide you with readymade products that are specific for the use with babies suffering from acne.  These products are tested.  You can also find home remedy solutions online that can work, although it may be best just to purchase and use what is already out there.

In either case try it out on a small patch area first that isn’t visible to most people and won’t cause the baby too much irritation should a reaction occur.  It is unlikely that anything will happen, but a moment of precaution will do wonders for your baby and you.    

If the baby’s acne is excessive or you are generally worried you can always speak with your baby’s doctor.  As a new parent this is never a bad option when learning how to take care of a new child.
