I have tried and tested a number of products and think its important to get your decisions right the first time around. Most parents want to be prepared when their babies arrive, here I have some tips on what to look for when deciding which products to buy and how to be organised for your little one. You can start a bedtime routine when your baby is from about 6 to 8 weeks old

Kids love routine they will be more relaxed when they go to bed as they know what is coming next. It can also be good for the parents as it will be a pleasurable activity and they will also have alone time to unwind at the end of the day.

A main routine can be, bathing, read a story and then put the child to bed. You can also add in little routines:

Brushing their teeth

sing songs or lullabies

play soothing music

Aim to start the winding down period before bed about an hour before to calm your child and relax them - the more relaxed they are the easier they will fall asleep quickly.

If your child is scared of the dark, install a night light, reassure them that you will check on them in a couple of minutes, by the time you come back to check on them they will most likely be asleep.

Things to remember when you are buying your babies bed

Having a baby is the most exciting time in a parents life, I remember when I was pregnant with my first child that I was desperate to have the best that I could afford for my child. My one regret was my impatience, I wanted everything straight away I just couldn't wait and didn't get the best deal that I should have on a few items.
