Parents will do everything in their power to make sure that their babies are safe and well protected and you should not be an exception. There are times that even if you are doing your best, things can happen too fast and out of control. No matter what you do, accidents can happen. The next best thing to do is to practice measures so that the risk of having accidents is lowered leaving your baby safe and happy. Here are some tips to ensure that nothing can go wrong with your baby:
- When there is water, babies should not be left unattended. They can easily drown in a bucket, a large bowl of water, a bath tub and in the swimming pool. When using the bath tub, make sure that the water level is kept in a minimum and that you should not attend to other matters and leave your baby in the tub such as answering the phone and others.
- A lot of babies have been victims of scalding too so keep everything that is hot out of your baby’s reach. Do not drink hot beverages like coffee while you are carrying or nursing the baby since they can always reach out for your cup or squirm in a way that you might spill your coffee too.
- When your baby is sick think twice before giving them medicines. Always call a doctor first before giving them anything. There are some medicines that can easily cure grown ups but would work differently on babies so you have to make sure first. If you are sick, do not go near your baby and ask someone else to take care of your baby for the mean time. Also do not let your baby near anyone sick.
- If you have a night lamp in your baby’s room make sure that it is situated out of the baby’s reach. Lamps can attract insects in the evening and those insects can feast on your baby as well.
- Do not let your baby crawl in the soil or in the ground. They can easily catch bacteria and might even put small objects that they find in their mouth. If you notice that your baby starts to walk around it is very important that you keep a close eye on your baby and do not let them crawl to the stairs.
