Low back pain and sciatica treatment options for back pain sufferers

Back Pain Remedies

It's estimated up to 90% of Americans will suffer from back pain at least once during their lifetime.

For an affliction that's so very common, many people aren't sure what back pain remedies are available to help provide back pain and sciatica relief. There are a number of different options out there to help people suffering with sore/painful backs.

It can start out with somethings as easy as rest. Sometimes, if you're luck, simply getting off your feet can make a huge difference in dealing with a sore back. While it may be difficult to find time to do this with family, work and other obligations, taking as much time as possible to just lay up for a while to take the pressure off your back can be a big help. And if you can listen to some relaxing music while you're resting to further reduce your stress and relax your back muscles.

Other back pain remedies you can try at home include applying heat or ice (ice usually only works in the first 48 hours or so) or taking pain killer or anti-inflammatories like Tylenol, Advil or Bayer aspirin. Other things you can try at home include taking magnesium, vitamin D or vitamin B12 because sometimes back pain can be associated with a deficiency in these elements. Of course, before taking any medication or supplement, you should check with your doctor first.

Exercise is another option that can help those with back pain get relief. There are a number of lower back exercises and sciatica exercises that can help stretch the muscles out and strengthen them that can help reduce back pain and reduce the chances of further pain/injury to the back.

If those back pain remedies don't work, then going to a good physical therapist or chiropractor (if you're comfortable with that idea), or Feldenkrais instructor has also proven effective for many back pain sufferers. Then finally, if things get bad enough and none of these other options seem to be working, surgery may be the only option. Hopefully, unlike me, you never have to get to that point!

That's a brief introduction to the range of options available to those suffering with back pain. Hopefully some of these back pain remedies will provide you with some relief!
