Grandmother Living On The Farm #7

There was a time when my grandmother(my mothers mother) lived with us. She was sick most of the time, had very bad diabetes. The most prominent memories about her were making hooked and braided rugs from rags. They were beautiful. The braided ones us children would hold the ends while she braided the fabric. She used the room to the right as you came the front door. Her bed was near the windows.

One year, two or three of us little ones had the measles at the same time. The ones where they keep you in a dark room, while you are sick. We stayed in the inner part of her room and they kept it dark.

I don't remember a whole lot about her. But, she wasn't a pleasant person most of the time. Probably because she was so sick, at least I will blame it on that. She didn't stay a real long time because when we move to the city when I was ten, she wasn't with us.

Sadly, she died when I was about fourteen or so after have at least one of her legs taken off. The horrible man my mother married the second time around wouldn't let her go see her from what I understand years down the road in my adult years.

More to come on this in number 8...
