Company brags they use a special corn in their feed. Why use corn at all? Dogs and cats can't digest the corn and the corn causes itching and scratching.... hmmm!
I have requested samples from the company for testing. Keep checking back for a full review.

Important Information:
Rated top quality food in the US by Whole Dog Journal the last 10 years.
Back to Basics food for dogs and cats is formulated to be the highest quality dog and cat food in the world. Wholesome human grade ingredients are all we use, preserving nature's goodness. Holistic, all natural, balanced. Before the age of chemicals, there was just good nutrition.
Wolves and wild cats maintained their strength in the wild (before they became domesticated) eating "clean meat", untainted by chemicals, preservatives or by-products. Beowulf Back to Basics holistic pet food takes its cues from Mother Nature. It is fresh, wholesome, uses top-grade ingredients, is antibiotic and hormone free, and slow cooked to retain goodness.
Feeding Instructions: These amounts are approximate and will vary with the age, breed and activity level of each dog. An inactive dog should consume less than a very active dog. Puppies should be fed 3 times a day adults 2 times a day for life. Please serve BACK TO BASICS moistened with water, this activates the digestive enzymes for maximum digestibility and we feel it is healthier way to feed any dry dog food. If switching from another food, feed the same amount that you have been serving to start. After about two weeks, your dog will be likely to decrease his intake voluntarily, thanks to BACK TO BASICS nutrient-dense, readily digestible formula.

Extra Information:
The chicken meal and pork meal used to produce Back to Basics has passed USDA inspection and is certified Grade A, and steroid and antibiotic free. To be labeled "free" means that they were not added nor were they ever present in the meat. This is a growing concern for the pet food consumer as they are becoming more educated on nutrition for their animals. The "meal" means that it is dried and ground before weighing so that our protein source is truly the first ingredient in the food, unlike most foods, which are weighed in their wet state (80% water weight).
Our corn comes from a select group of growers in the mid-west and is certified non-GMO (Genetically Modified). The non-GMO is another concern for pet enthusiasts. Corn is 91% digestible, one of the best sources of linoleic acid and Omega 6 & 3 fatty acids, provides essential amino acids and fiber. Corn is nutritionally superior grain compared with others because it contains a balance of nutrients not found in other grains, and it is known as the "King of Carbohydrates". Back to Basics corn is more expensive than most because it is human grade!
