Superstition Doesn't exist until you manifest it into being - How people stab themselves in the foot!

Superstition is having no control of your own mind
I'll make this short and sweet (look everyone a short hub by Jerrico!!!)
I read a post in our forum this morning/afternoon and responded to it and wanted to make a hub about this instead.
The forum post is here: Are You Superstitious?
Specifically this person was talking about bad luck but this applies to anything superstitious. Superstitions are nothing more than sigils for the mind and as they said in the matrix:
... As neo wakes up from the training program of falling off a 100 story building and landing face down into the sidewalk,
"Morpheus, I thought you said it wasn't real"
"Neo, your mind makes it real"
Neo "So if you die in the matrix do you die here?"
Morpheus "The body cannot survive without the mind"
That is a profound awareness right there that goes far beyond the movies entertainment value. The mind is our best tool and worst enemy if left un checked. Autopilot is where most people live, and thus are at the mercy of their ridiculous "superstitions" or beliefs.
Bad luck doesn't exist dynamically, it is a creation of your mind.
How we generate Bad Luck (and good luck too) and believe it is an externally generated thing (a stimulation if you will) but realistically its not, its our own mind flexing its potential, undisciplined this can be dangerous to us and others.
As you start to notice bad things happening and a number for example starts to "click" as being there several times, you start to associate the number with a series of events. The mind builds a filter that starts to actually CREATE bad luck situations when the number comes around.
Subconsciously your actually well aware of this but consciously we tend to think it's a happenstance because of the number. Realize that we often see subconsciously things way before they reach our conscious mind, i.e. we scan a room and consciously remember about 20% of the room but the rest although still stored in our subconscious memory is not accessed by the focus of the conscious mind.
What happens is we subconsciously "fear" the number 13 as we've built a filter to give the "reactive" mind (source dianetics book) an excuse to run ramped to protect ourselves. In this instance that our subconscious mind sees the 13 (be it 13 like items in a store display shelf, 13 stars on a map, etc..
It doesn't have to be the number just the amount!!! Remember the mind thinks in symbologies, what words, items, perceptively mean not the item itself.) then we subconsciously go into protection mode, which causes us to defend against something that is not really there (the fear/worry of bad luck). If we put as much fear and worry into good luck we'd all be a lot better off! Conversely we tend to give more "faith" in bad luck manifesting than good so there exists the problem!
In doing this we tend to cause more harm than not and generate a self fulfilling prophecy of bad luck simply because we expect/believe it so powerfully. Each day your going about your day your building the script of your belief systems. Dynamically we are changing this but often only if something convinces us that our current "comfortable" belief is wrong.
Each time something happens to reinforce it (even self inflicted but misdirected blame on these events happening "because of" the number 13 or whatever your "bad luck thing is") you are causing yourself more potential problems until you can't even look at a 13 (subconsciously even if you don't see it consciously the event still triggers and you don't realize your protecting yourself from nothing) without causing problems.
The reality is lack of awareness of our own minds processes and our human gullibility, mixed with the reactive mind causes the bad luck but the truth is its not random or linked to the number 13 realistically, its linked to a filter we build over time and reinforce when "coincidences" happen and over a snowball effect of time we solidify the resolve and "define" the bad luck macro-
This is also known in Magick circles as a Sigil- a symbol to link a belief to so that this belief is triggered when you see it, kind of like when your having a bad day at work and your wife whom you love dearly comes through the door with that warm smile that could light a wet match underwater, and all of a sudden you feel excited, happy, energetic, creative, and so for.. she becomes your sigil, or "good luck" "charm".
Ultimately the moral of this hub is: What we focus on and believe becomes our reality. Good Luck and Bad luck, superstitions, there all one and the same- focused beliefs and what we believe we build around and manifest.
We have to realize that we may not realize we have it but we have the magical ability to manifest ANYTHING we want, we've just been deprogrammed over centuries to forget how to use our power, I believe this is a ploy to maintain control over people by the powers that be..
We can't have everyone walking around like the charmed ones now could we? How would they control us and benefit from our loss of personal freedom?
Think... about...it....

Hmmm...I was a part of the thread that inspired this. I don't specifically believe in good luck/bad luck. I do have a horseshoe above my door, and it is pointed upwards, as it is said that it catches the good luck. Truth be told, it looks better that way. If, like you say, there is no good luck/bad luck, except that which we manage to manifest on our own, I am really doing myself no harm.
If hanging it pointed down were the real way to, "pour the luck down on myself", and I were in truth, trapping the luck, as you had mentioned in the thread, then luck would exist.
I was merely pointing out that people percieving that pointing the horseshoes up was a fear based assessment (-or the luck will fall out) could be seen in another light as the universe charging the horse shoe and pointing down it would release all that luck, it to me is just a matter of belief, luck is literally defined as opportunity met with preperation and action/acting on it
I wrote a brilliant essay on luck when I developed my Luck generator submiminal /meditation CD product which just pumped affirmations that helped you to be more aware of opportunities around you.
I was thinking of putting my article into a hub...

Thanks for such an elaborate response :D
That's your view of things, I guess... If you think we create our luck, then you're stating something else... that you believe in free will and the ability to mold's one destiny as we go along...
But if our fate is already written, then that's a falacious notion. If 13 is written as a bad luck number, it's gonna be bad luck, no matter if your subconsncious makes it happen or not...
So you don't believe in destiny... as for me, I'm not sure what I believe. Maybe you're right, maybe I am. Your theory is the same as the Secret (you know, that bestselling book...). It focuses on forgetting about bad stuff and always think positive. If you do that, positive things will happen. Always find good meanings in situations, bla, bla, bla... In fact, let me sugest putting in this hub some reference and Amazon capsule to The Secret, you could really sell some eheh (see, here's positive thinking to you!)...
Positive thinking is good to your morale and self-estime... Makes you not to be depressed and want to do things for your life and hapiness. Gives you room for making objectives and establish plans to improve your present and build your future.
But that doesn't work for everyone, see. I could never be like that. Maybe it' a genetic thing, or a personallity issue. Maybe it's because my childood is not a happy one, my mother died when I was very young and due to my profession I see horrible things happening everyday, good people dying and I'm totally helpless to change anything...
Maybe it's because we are just speckle of dust, meaningless and that our end will probably be one of fear and pain. Maybe I'm just pessimist. Probably I'm just a coward...
For a very long time I couldn't be positive about things. 13 is just something more I don't feel confortable about. Sure, I'll probably never be trully happy being the way I am, but I don't think I can change me. My fate is inprinted in me. But hey, 3 and 7 are really good numbers to me :D And 24 is also quite ok!
You see, we are all different people and all have our particualities. I never met just one that doesn't wear masks. Profiler is just a nick, but at the sime time is a mask that I use here. Same as the masks we use when we lie, or when we try to feign being something that we aren't. Same as when we answer the polite way, even when we want to say Fuck Off. Same as when we're being cynical, evil, egotistical... So maybe 13 is also a mask to me, in some way. Something that I can focus to justify some of my failures in life. Or maybe is something like you said, about our minds controling our lifes. Or maybe, it's fate.
Whatever it is, it's me. And God does not exist...
