Bake a Birthday Cake

How to Bake a Birthday Cake
It's your child's birthday tomorrow and you've realized that you can't run out and buy one and there is no time to order one. Now you need to bake a birthday cake right?
So, get those cake pans ready and let's start baking. Here is a birthday cake that is so easy to make and to decorate.
I like 2 layer cakes. I think they look really festive. Do you have cake mix around if you do great, but if you don't make some cake batter from scratch.
Pour the cake batter into two - nine inch round pans that you have greased and dusted with flour.
Bake these at 350 degrees for about twenty to thirty-five minutes. You can usually tell if they're done just be feeling it.
If you can't tell this way, insert a knife in the middle and see if any batter sticks to it. If batter does stick, then it's not done yet. Don't over bake it because it will become dry.
When the birthday cake is done place on the cooling rack for a few minutes. Take a knife and slide it around the edge.
Then place a plate or large piece of cardboard over the top of it and flip it over and the cake will come right out onto the plate, if it doesn't try placing a wet towel over the pan.
Now, take both these cakes and place them into the freezer for two hours. It's fine to keep them upside down. You'll find that a frozen cake is so much easier to frost.
Now, make a batch of your favorite frosting or you can buy some. Frost the top of one of your cakes, then flip the other cake on it or you can place it on top of it. Now, frost the sides, using a knife or spatula, making the sides nice and smooth. Then you frost the top last.
Now you get to decorate it. You can put sprinkles all over it or draw some balloons or smiley faces. You can write on the top.
Anything you have around your kitchen for decorating go to it. Make it a really special birthday cake.
If you don't have any icing bags then find any kind of bottle that has a small hole in it and you can use that to decorate the cake with. I like to use cleaned out honey bottles.
See? Learning how to bake a birthday cake isn't all that bad. You may find yourself actually good at it. *Wink*
