Baldness or alopecia is a partial or total abscense of hair on the scalp.
A healthy scalp shed old hair continually and new hair grow to replace them. Baldness develops when new hair stops growing for any reason. Thinning of the hair on the scalp takes place as a normal process of aging.
Many types of baldness are temporary and normal hair growth can be restored in most cases. Temporary baldness may be a symptoms of a serious illness, skin infection or of emotional stress .
Too much of vitamin A can also cause hair fallout.
Type of hair loss :
- Male Pattern Baldness : is the most common pattern, a man losses much or all of the hair over the top of the head.
- Female Pattern Baldness : it involves thinning of the hair but not complete baldness.
Pattern baldness cannot be cured.
Aesthetic Procedure to Restore the Hair :
- Hair weaving - a technique in which the sides of the hair piece are sewn into the remaining hair.
- Air transplanting - doctor surgically removes plugs of the scalp that contain growing hair. The plugs are then transplanted to the baldness.
Causes of Baldness :
- Accumulation of oil or seborrhea on scalp and the blocking of pores where the hair follicles are located.
- Improper hair care increases the problem.
- Lack of adequate vitamins and proteins needed for hair growth.
- Hair loss can be more prevalent when the person is under excessive stress, suffers from anorexia nervosa, or dyes his/her hair.
Treatment for Baldness :
- Wash hair everyday with an Aloe Vera , Avocado and jojoba based shampoo, massage the scalp gently, it will help open the pores and eliminate excess oil and dirt.
- Let lukewarm water run directly onto the scalp for a few minutes. This will help open the pores.
- Take a multivitamin like bee pollen in addition to taking multi-minerals.
