What is a Balloon Festival?
Balloon festivals are held annually in many places throughout the year, and give a chance for balloonists to participate in balloon races and display their balloons during evening balloon glows, and for the public to participate in the spectacle of many balloons gathered in one spot and to learn about the sport.
2008 Balloon Festival in Plano,TX
This year 2008 balloon festival was held on September 19th to 21st at Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve, 2801 Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, TX. It was the 29th annual Plano Balloon Festival and it was conducted by "EDS Credit Union,Plano". There were more than 50 Ballons gracing over the skies. The attendee's were entertained by the concerts and community acts. The Kids had thier separate Fun Zone which had lots of games for their entertainment. There was a spectacular fireworks on Saturday night.
Friday and Saturday evening as the roar of burners being ignited adds to the thrill of seeing special shapes and colorful balloons set against the back drop of the dark night sky. The balloon glow is a MUST see! Thousands of smiling faces are awestruck by the vision of hot air balloons filling the sky with lofty visions of colors and shapes.
It was an overwhelming sense of delight spreaded over 80,000+ attendees experience the wonders of the EDS Credit Union Plano Balloon Festival September 19, 20, & 21, 2008.
Different Varieties of Balloons
There were different varieties of balloons. There are standard shapes and special shapes. Standard shapes are the tear drop or round balloon shape. This year, the special shapes include: High Miss Daisy, Pandy the Panda, Oggy the Dragon, and Woodrow C. Greenleaf.
