I remember watching Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers ballroom dancing as a girl and even now as an adult still I love to watch the classics ( thanks to Netflix ) and I wished that I could dance like them, well now I can do that too.

Since "Dancing with the Stars" aired ballroom dancing is become popular again and what's better is now you can buy ballroom dancing videos & DVD's that teach you how dance in the privacy of your own home. The best videos can teach you to dance even if you don’t have a partner. The video “Dance Lessons 101: The Ultimate Couples Dancing Instruction Video for Beginners” (Shawn Trautman's Dance Collection) (2007) is one.

Ballroom dancing is a lot different from free style dancing as this requires one to know the exact tehnique behind each step. Just buy a ballroom dancing DVD that will show you the basics. Be sure while checking out the instructional videos note which dances you will learn, there's a traditional style of dancing and the more spicy version. If you have no desire to tango then look for another video, and vice-versa if you want to learn salsa, tango and some faster paced dances avoid the video that only teaches you how to waltz.

If you don't live in a big town where they offer lessons getting a ballroom dance video or DVD is the next best thing to being there. It is true that attending a dance class would mean that a person would be able to interact with more people, helping them build new friendships.

But the beauty of owning a ballroom dancing DVD means that you can still learn the steps without attending a dance class. You have the option of stopping and replaying each move if you don't get it at your own pace.
