Barack Obama and Date Night
48President Obama and Michelle Obama spent part of May 30, 2009 on a date night. Most of us can appreciate the opportunity to leave our hectic lives behind for a short break. The responsibilities of being the first family would more hectic than most. It is even a feel good news story. I support the President in choosing to spend an evening on the town with his wife. However, with our current economic state it was handled wrong. The taxpayers will be funding this trip. We will be paying for a plane that flew the President, Mrs. Obama, their staff and the media to New York. This trip seems a little elitist. Our economic condition has been referred to by many as a depression. How can the President decide to take jet to new York for a night on the town? Do you remember his outrage over CEO bonuses and parties? The term hypocritical comes to mind. The money spent by the corporate executives was taxpayer money and the money spent by President Obama was taxpayer money. President Obama has said he can identify with the problems ordinary Americans are facing. I don't know about you but my problems don't revolve around deciding which Broadway show to see. White House officials will not even release information about how much this trip cost. The only solution is for the Obamas to reimburse the government for the cost of this trip.President Obama should also apologize for this error in judgement. Email President Obama and tell him that we want our money back. Use the following link http://www.whitehouse.gov/CONTACT/ or call the White House comment line at 202-456-1111.

Hm, interesting. Though some sources say that Obamas paid for the trip by their own money. Hard to say where the truth is, but I won't be surprised if taxpayers money were spent.
