Barack Speaks to a Struggling Nation

President-elect Barack Obama gave his first press conference since the November 4th election, and he had a lot to say in a relatively short period of time. He addressed the unemployment numbers revealed earlier in the day, the auto industry crisis, as well as other general economic conditions the country is now facing.

This article will discuss some of those challenges and the opportunities that exist, for you as well as your nation.

Toughest Economic Challenge of Our Lifetime

One of the first things Barack said is that the country is facing the toughest economic challenge of our time. He didn't shy away from this, or try to sugarcoat it. There simply isn't any room left to sweep this under the rug anymore.

Barack went on to say that we have some difficult choices ahead of us. We are all going to have to make some sacrifices, and roll up our sleeves as we get to work to reverse current economic trends. He didn't specify yet what those sacrifices will be, or what form the work will take, but the message is clear; WE as a nation will have to band together to make it happen.

These words came on the heels of some pretty alarming news this week regarding unemployment and the auto industry.

Create Your Own Stimulus Package

Barack Obama noted that the economy is in bad shape, and the American people need help right now. He specifically noted that a rescue plan is needed for the middle class. One way to do that, according to him, is to introduce another economic stimulus package. He felt the Bush administration should implement it now, but noted that if that was not done, it would be one of the first things he would do when he comes into office on January 20th.

This is a very important point, and you might want to pause a moment and reflect on this. Barack Obama won't take office until January 20th. He seems to already be filling the role of leader very well, but he won't actually be the leader for another two and a half months.

Sitting back and waiting for Barack, or even Bush, to save the day is not what you should be doing right now. Take his words to heart and start asking yourself how you can make some changes in your life to help improve the state of the economy for you, your family, your community and your country. The old ways have shown they are not as reliable as once believed.

Why wait until January to get what amounts to a hand-out? You know the expression, "Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, he eats forever"? I want you to eat forever, so get the training you need in order to become your own job security, and create your own stimulus package.

Deliberate Haste

When asked about his choices for cabinet members, Barack Obama stated that he is moving forward with deliberate haste to fill those positions. This is a great expression, and one which everyone might consider pinning to their bathroom mirror or onto their refrigerator. The individual words taken separately have almost opposite meanings, but taken together they form a powerful statement of resolve.

Whatever choices you make regarding your future, try to make them with deliberate haste. If you are considering a new line of work, especially something like network marketing, do your due diligence, but don't get bogged down in every last detail. At some point, you have to allow yourself to process all the new information, and listen to what your gut is telling you. Make the decision to move forward and don't second guess yourself. Trust your intuition and maintain your focus on the tasks ahead.

A Time for Action

Whether you have already lost your job or are concerned about job security, you now know that relying on even the largest of companies carries no guarantees. In fact, people working for large corporations are generally more vulnerable because they have not prepared a plan 'B', falsely assuming it would never be necessary.

It is time to develop your plan 'B', and possibly 'C' and even 'D'. The critical distinction is that YOU have to be at the heart of your plan(s), and you have to learn how to work with others at the same time. If you have the foresight to develop your skills now, you will be able to lead countless others as they seek to learn to navigate the uncertain terrain they will soon be facing.

This may seem daunting to you at first, but the good news is there are those who have already started to forge a new path. The tools and training you will need have been in development for many months now, and dedicated individuals committed to your success are ready and willing to guide you along your journey.

Lane it is a reality of the world we live in, economic challenges and financial uncertainty for those who do not have recession proof skills or income. It is my hope that more americans become proactive in their financial destinies, we can not leave it up to government anymore!

Thanks for sharing

Excellent article Lane! We need to dig the well before we need it. This current economic situation should be a major wake-up call to those who think they are secure when they are not. The truth is we can no longer have all our eggs in one basket. In my parents time they called it moonlighting. We need to not only diversify by taking on another job; we need to OWN our own business. The internet is the tool of leverage and with guides like you leading the way anyone can do this.
